Do you think the UFC regrets...

Trading the Mouse for Askren? Or has Jorge becoming somewhat of a star ultimately been worth it? They only got 3 fights out of Funky and DJ probably has 3-5 years of fighting left.

Not at all. They made more money off askren than they did DJ. Especially with the way masvidal knocked him out.

Without Askren, they wouldn't have a new star in Masvidal.

It's not even about the money. They got exactly what they were hoping for imo, an undefeated champ of two rival organizations who came in and suffered two losses. The casual fan doesnt understand how good Douglas Lima is or even who he is. They just know that Ben was undefeated before and now has two losses ans the UFC loves that the uneducated just draws one conclusion, and that is the UFC has the best talent.

Nah was a good trade.

Good point. They definitely care about making money though

They made money for sure but iyo which scenario do you think Dana would rather have if he could pick one.

1) Ben comes in and has the exact outcome that he had

or

2) Ben comes in and beats Lawler, Masvidal, and the champ to get a title. Then fights GSP in another huge money making fight. Then retires as the greatest ever.

Keep in mind that the UFC made more money in scenario 2 but scenario 1 did more for marketing their image than any amount of money ever could.

Which do you think they would pick? I think they liked the way it happened and matching him up against Maia who was Bens toughest fight in the UFC stylistically was very well planned out.

Go look up how many threads were created over the past six years about how nobody wants to watch the midgets fight....

Honestly,  I'm sure Dana cares more about that but I feel like the owners care more about money, at least until they recoup what was spent on the deal.
