lets go st. pierre.
Gooooooooo St. Pierre
I think the fight will be better than some think. I hope it's a good one but am rooting for Matt.
i give him the 10% chance cote has. the other guy has to make a dumb mistake
I definitely give St. Pierre a shot but of course Matt is still the favorite.
What I am most concerned about is that the fight is exciting. If Matt lays and prays like he did against Charuto, then I'll be pissed. But as long as we get an exciting fight, I'll be happy.
If I am wrong I will be the first to admit it... but Hughes wins this one--
Georges may be the future, but he isnt ready for what Hughes will bring.
Sure his standup might be crisp--- but he wont get out from under Matt-- until the round ends.
The mental pressure will be unlike anything Georges has seen... a big title fight,5 rounds against a guy that has been there and done that.
Georges will be a bundle of nerves--
Hughes has fought and defeated better(or equal) strikers, better sub fighters and better wrestlers then Georges.
You can train all you want with great wrestlersand even do well against them-- but once you are in a battle with real strikes involved everything changes.Ask Vitor how all that training helped him with the so called world class wrestlers he was beating..lol
I like Georges-- he is a good kid.... I am sure afterword he will be all smiles and just happy to have the opportunity--
Matt Hughes by ref stoppage-- round 3
STOP IT ALREADY!!!
I am Canadian so I am of course going with St. Pierre. Seriously though, GSP is a finisher. Matt is a decision fighter. For Hughes to win he will have to SURVIVE which means a boring fight if Hughes gets position. If he can't get it, good night.
I like both fighters but I like an underdog win.
However, for GSP to win he will have to do it decisively.
Well, the greek doesn't want my money, so I couldn't put down a bet. Apparently my credit card here in the DR won't work for this kind of thing, and AMEX isn't accepted.
Too bad, because $200 at +205 would have been nice.
GSP wins this one. Why? Because as someone said earlier in this thread -- GSP is a finisher. To win, Matt Hughes has to win for 5 rounds. Georges only has to win for a few seconds.
Matt is going to want to put on a show to prove that he isn't a L&P fighter. Not that he has anything to prove, but I would imagine that he will not be satisfied with pulling off a decision over such a young, relatively untested fighter. He will try to finish, or look good in the ring and will get caught.
Is it too early for Georges? Definitely. But I still give it to him.
Joe
I think GSP has a good shot at a W. It should be a good fight.
I know I'm going to catch hell for this...And I know this sound crazy too...but as much as I like Hughes normally....I have St. Pierre winning by submission or decision...but should be a great fight....best of luck to both fighters....2 great guys for the sport
Maybe Georges isnt as good as wrestler as Trigg or Sherk, but I dont think he's gonna go in there trying to outwrestle Hughes like they tried. This is gonna be a different fight.
Anyone know the odds on this fight?....I'm ready to placemy underdog bet
Steiner,
Now THAT's lazy! Not five posts up, I said he's +205 on the greek.
Wish I could bet on this!
Joe
I really think style wise, St.Pierre matches up well against Hughes. In fact, maybe too good. Firts off all, George is a big guy, walks around 190lbs. Almost as strong as Hughes. He is not as good a wrestler as Matt but a very good one who maybe good enough just to put Hughes on his back one or two times, just like Sherk and Trigg have or to simply give Hughes a hard enough time for a take down to have long moments of stand up battle. Lastly, he is tall and lanky and can really give Matt some fists to eat.
I GOT HUGHES WINNING IN THE 2ND BY KO!I THINK IT WILL BE A GOOD FIGHT THOUGH.MATT WILL OVERPOWER HIM,SLAM HIM,AND THEN GIVE HIM A HEALTHY DOSE OF ELBOWS.
LOL @ the Chode that picked St Pierre by G and P!!!!
LMAO@All this shite.
look at the terrell and linland fight, terrell for sure isnt a better wressler, he pulled off the upset. i see the same thing happening here. maybe not as quick! this is a five round fight, meaning if he gets on his back in the first round or so and is able to survive he has several oppertunities to land heavy shots in the beginning of the rounds. this is where the fight will be won for him.
