The rumor was 6 fights $36M with a champion’s clause.
Fedor said that if the deal was anywhere close to that he would have signed it and dealt with the champions clause.
Dana laughed out loud when a reporter threw those numbers at him.
The later offer after the purchase of Strikeforce was an insult meant to get him to leave.
Part 2 to this: Is Fedor broke? It seems that M-1 was paid directly for his Bodog, Affliction, and Strikeforce fights. Fedor was going to be a 10% shareholder in M-1 if he fulfilled certain contractual obligations. Fedor split with Vadim and his wife manages him now. Aleks thinks that Fedor got ripped off by M-1 and that’s why he’s on this horrible comeback tour. What say you.
Part 3- Did Dana make signing Fedor-Brock at that huge stadium in Dallas, with Fedor pulling out due to the death of his father? That whole thing sound like bullshit.
No idea if this is true but Chuck Liddell is who told me they offered Fedor $750,000 flat and 3 points on PPV above 300,000 with a choice of 3-5 fights and a champions clause. Plus a noncompete in any other sports
The UFC made a (new) offer that was a very good offer,? M-1 Global president Vadim Finkelchtein stated today regarding the offer made by the UFC to Fedor Emelianenko. CBS Radio MMA host Carmichael Dave revealed exactly how good the offer was in a post on Sherdog this evening.
According to Carmichael, the UFC presented Emelianenko with a six-fight, $30 million dollar contract. At $5 million per fight, that would easily make him the highest paid fighter in the organization’s history. He was also offered an immediate title shot, with M-1 Global receiving a cut of the Lesnar – Fedor PPV (which would likely be the biggest PPV in MMA history) on top of Fedor’s salary.
Carmichael went on to note that Emelianenko would be able to wear the M-1 Global logo on any of his attire, and that he would be allowed to compete in combat sambo, a point of contention in their negotiations in 2007.
Finkelchtein noted that while their offer was good, it wasn’t enough to convince them to sign with the UFC. Like in 2007, Finkelchtein is apparently demanding to have a co-promotion with his Russian M-1 Global promotion and the UFC. Finkelchtein stated earlier today that because M-1 has done its part to grow the sport by promoting shows all over the world, that the company is worthy of co-promoting events with the UFC.
“The UFC has their champions; we (M-1 Global) also have our champions and our representatives,” Finkelchtein said. “We offered to have a co-promotion.”
Finkelchtein went on to say that further progress may be made later, but not now. He also revealed that Emelianenko was negotiating with other organizations, including Strikeforce.
It is virtually guaranteed that the UFC would not allow Fedor’s fights to be co-promotional ventures with M-1 Global. It is also virtually guaranteed that no other organization would be able to match the UFC’s offer monetarily, although they could provide the co-promotion with M-1 Global.
ufc dropped the ball here. SF “co-promoted” with M1. does any here remember, care or even knew back then? so M1 is on canvas/commercials/poster. big deal. all people will remember is the fights anyway, just like they did then and do now with his SF fights. I had to look it up to remeber if M1 was on fedor/rogers poster. it is, but i couldnt remember.
Whatever they offered him, it was way too much. Would have been cool at the time to see him in the Octagon because we thought he was the GOAT. However, now in retrospect..ehhhhh, who cares?
Well in retrospect, your mom should’ve just gave a bj instead

He would have made a mint with that deal, and it keeps the reported payout low, SF was paying Fedor 300k-400k, which M-1 wanted.
Lesnar, Mir, Sylvia, Carwin, Randy, and Cain would have all been available HW fights back then.
Then, I’m sure that, Anderson, Chuck, Rampage, Forrest, etc. would have moved up to fight him at HW or catchweight.

The co-promotion and the combat sambo stuff always seemed odd to me. Fedor stopped competing in combat sambo after he got beat by Blaggo Ivanov and won a bronze in 2008, and Strikeforce just stuck and M-1 logo on the mat. Fedor wore Clinch Gear and RVCA sponsored shirts, he wasn’t even rocking full M-1. M-1 could have been a team logo like ATT.
Vadim was able to get Affliction to sign other guys from Red Devil/Imperial for their PPV, but Fedor’s team was a bust. Why would the UFC bother with those guys. Strikeforce didn’t want them, and didn’t sign any of those guys. Sergei was the closest thing because he was former Red Devil, but he was signed on his own merit, not because he was a friend of Fedor.
Fedor made $2M a pop for the Diajeep and Maldonado fights.
Mrs. Fedor seems to be a better manager than Vadim.
this might not be fair, but ive always questioned fedors intelligence for the way he let people handle his career. OF course, there is a lot of assuming on my part, and you know what they say...
if i recall correctly the ufc offered millions and a great contract but fedors side declined because ufc wouldnt partner with m1 global and build a stadium in russia for them.
Fedor and Dana both said that the offer of millions in show money was never a real thing.
Fedor said that the offer wasn’t close to 5 or 6M a fight.

I have a hunch that Fedor walked away with very little compared to what he generated and was paid to M-1.
The whole thing was a little screwy, and Dana seemed wary. There would be one small, disclosed payment to Fedor and who-knows-what paid to M-1.
Fedor seemed overly loyal to Vadim, but Vadim did set up world class training for Fedor early on, and sent him to Holland often to work on his striking with top guys.
I think it was one of those old school managerial situations where Vadim paid for Fedor’s training and living expenses, and took care of everything outside of actually fighting.
