It’s an interesting fight. Oliviera–the submission record holder–obviously has a great shot at submitting an inferior pure grappler such as Islam. Islam’s best shot is pounding Oliviera out while he’s hunting for the sub. No way Oliviera turns this into a striking match… Islam would take him down right away and give the appearance of dictating the fight. This fight goes to the ground early. Oliviera by sub early on, or Islam by gnp if the fight drags on. No way the fight goes all five rounds.

That’s a great question. I couldn’t think of any names off the top of my head, I just knew that he had a lot of subs. Also, that’s an interesting way of wording it… “impressed with”. Many of these subs won OTN bonuses which are discretionary in nature and generally only get awarded for impressing the boss. Since Islam is at the beginning of his career, he may want to note that way of looking at it.

I’d like to see Islam fight Jim Miller. That’d tell us a lot about his ability to get the sub, and it’d also tell us whether or not it’s easy to sub Islam. I think Islam would win that by gnp. Still a great fight though… it’d tell us whether Jim Miller still has “it”.
