He seems like a really cool person in interviews, and I know he's just making a living and doing his best. But he has like 20 phrases that he spits out in the exact same tonality, and I've been hearing them for so long now almost every time he speaks I just face palm. Whenever he says something outside of those phrases I can tell he's reading it off a piece of paper in front of him.
There seems to be a lot of loyalty flowing both ways with Rogan and Goldberg (to and from the UFC), and I find that admirable. But just from the perspective of the viewing experience, the commentators are pretty important and I feel like there is a lot of room to improve, especially when it comes to Goldberg.
While I'm not crazy about Rogan either, I think he fits his role pretty well and does a good job explaining the action. I definitely don't need it explained to me anymore, but I understand there are fans that do.
I think the person in Goldberg's chair needs to be more creative with their commentating and if there is one thing Mike Goldberg is not, it's creative with his commentary.
Again, no disrespect to Goldberg, he seems like a cool dude. This is just my personal viewpoint and I was curious how many others felt the same way. I doubt that he is going anywhere anytime soon.
Yeah hes been stale the past 6 years

So I guess it's unanimous!
At first his commentary was on a"medioric rise" then he stopped "embracing the grind" and now his commentary from show to show is "virtually identical".
I'm ok with what he does..
lol 6 is a generous estimate
he's fine. everyone knows Goldberg and Rogan.
Whenever he was hired he was stale already.
These threads are so not, however...........

Goldberg and Rogan are still, by far, the best commentary option the UFC currently has but Goldberg in particular is undoubtedly stale. At this point they basically sound like video game commentary.
He was by Day 2
I don't mind him. I like him and rogan a lot more than any other commentators. Now it's like when you hear them it's a big fight.
