Does it come down to turning your back on opp. ?

Regardless if you believe one fighter or the other won the contest, is turning your back on the opponent while creating space more of the issue at hand?

If Condit had faced Diaz throughout the fight while using footwork to evade and counter at the same range he did in the fight, would there be such a huge discussion over the fight?

The second time you turn your back on an opponent, it should be a point deduction.

The issue to me is avoiding the fight as much as possible for all 25 minutes. For example after each exchange against the cage Condit circled and went all the way across the cage slowly walking backward while Nick was coming forward. He did not take the center of the cage and engage, he literally backed up as much as possible and waited out the clock as much as possible after almost every exchange. That was his gameplan. To do just enough to win each round while avoiding a real fight as much as possible. I'm not saying he should have done any different though. I'm saying the rules should not allow this as a winning "fight" strategy. That is what is killing the sport IMO.

If Condit hadn't turned his back and run there would have been no way for him to avoid the fight. Diaz was putting on too much pressure. This is my issue, though.... he did not move, slip and slide, circle, etc. HE TURNED HIS BACK TO HIS OPPONENT AND RAN.

That's a little harsh, but a warning after 2 in the same round or a point deduction after 3 in the rnd would be more justified me thinks. It's stalling (winding down the clock) imo. Phone Post

If Diaz was putting on "too much pressure" shouldn't Carlos have just about NO WHERE TO GO? Or was it that Nick has VERY POOR FOOTWORK and couldn't keep Carlos pinned long enough to land anything of any significance?

My guess is the latter.... Phone Post
