Serious question, does Ken Shamrock have brain damage?
The reason that I ask this is that he seems to get KO'd pretty easy over the last few years.
Sakuraba, Tito Ortiz, Rich Franklin, and now this Buzz Berry guy.
I remember back in the day Ken could take a hard shot to the head and not go down.
Remember when he fought Don Frye. Yeah, I know he came up short on the decision in that one but it was still a close fight and it is possible that if the time limit had been longer that Ken could have won. Ken took a lot of shots to the head in that one and didn't go down.
Ken fought some really good strikers back in the day like Bas Rutten and did not get KO'd.
So what's up with Ken now? Why is he getting KO'd like a Palooka Joe?
Ken needs to retire from fighting so he stops embarrassing himself and further tarnashing what at one time was a great career as a fighter.
i gotta ask....what made and when was ken actually a good fighter? imo the guy was never that good, his best day was choking severn! other than that what did he really do?.....it's been nothing but the ufc and wwe hype machines......i'm sick of it already, sure he was better than he is now but never very good.
even in his younger days his skills were usually offset by his tendency to fight a stupid fight i.e. pounding the back of brian johnstons head till he broke his hand
if you take too many shot to the head over a long period of time it has a
lasting affect & its easier to be ko'd,,,, happens to alot of boxers towards
the end of there career. thats just my opinion.
I have to second the notion that Ken was never a terribly talented fighter, and the time in which he was most successful was in the earliest days of MMA when he had a major edge on most of his opponents because of his strength and training edge.
When Ken has a major edge of some sort over his opponent he comes across as a pretty good fighter, but whenever he has been well matched he has looked either very average or he has been humiliated (which has been the case over the past few years).
Ken has always billed himself as a "leg lock master" but just off the top of my head, I can't think of one of his fights over the past 10 years or so that has been especially impressive regarding submissions. Ken seems to rely mostly on being very, VERY strong (which he seems to have had some chemical help with) and either out-striking or just pounding his opponent (when he manages to wins...which hasn't been happening a whole lot these days).
"i gotta ask....what made and when was ken actually a good fighter? imo the guy was never that good, his best day was choking severn! other than that what did he really do?....."
Ken was one of the top fighters in the sport at one time. Remember, he was the first King of Pancrase. He beat Bas Rutten by submission twice.
I think that he's just been on a downward spiral due to age and injuries.
You dudes need to really watch this fight on Showtime like someone already mentioned.
Ken is old he was past his prime during the time of his beatdowns to Tito. Ken isn't Randy Couture! Simply takes less to Knock Ken out at this present time in his legendary career.
Hopefully after this KO loss he will go to commentating and Coaching full time!!
Even though both are in their 40s, I don't think that Randy Couture suffered as many injuries in his life as Ken Shamrock has, that's probably why he's so much more competitive than Ken is right now.
"Simply takes less to Knock Ken out at this present time in his legendary career."
Ken is tarnashing his career and image. He should have retired a while ago.
