does protein go bad?

getting back into working out and I've got some protein that is about two years old.

Its not in the original package but its in a tupperware container.

It smells and looks just like normal. Does this stuff ever go bad?

I think it starts to go bad after about 1 year.

i've had a 10lb bag of strawberry O.N. for years that seems ok. Used it this morning and tastes perfect. Does the protein jsut not work as well after that long?

As far as I know it will still taste/look the same but after about a year the protein will start to lose its effectiveness.

What exactly is the "effectiveness" of protein you speak of?:)
