Rampage's standup is very predictable and has been for a long time now. He has power, but failed to put away chinny guys like Jardine and Forrest.
His takedown defense is excellent -- but against singles and doubles, not against clinch takedowns. In the clinch, much smaller guys have taken him down repeatedly -- Henderson, Lindland, Yoon, even Ninja, who is not known for takedowns at all. Jones is clearly the master of the clinch takedown.
Rampage has no ground game whatsoever. He has been tough to submit, but has no submission offense at all, and no ground and pound (at least not without knees to the head).
I can't think of any reason why Jones won't make this look easy.
A very small chance early is he can get off some shots like the ones that KO'D Wandy. Rampage will get badly beat up like Shogun most likely.
A puncher's chance
^ That is correct. A puncher's chance. Rampage, however, has looked like a guy who only works boxing as of late so I seriously doubt that he'll have anything for Jones.
Rampage always has a chance

Jones has such a massive reach advantage, and even more of one due to his excellent kicks, that he will be out of range except when Jones wants to get close for a takedown.
I also forgot to mention that Rampage has historically been weak not only against clinch takedowns, but even moreso against clinch strikes.
Sorry guys fight ain't happening jones broke a nail
Oh and weak grappleing did u watch the hendo fight ? And a stud wrestler like hamil couldn't get him down
I think Rampage will surprise everyone in this fight.
JamesTheWelshDR - Oh and weak grappleing did u watch the hendo fight ? And a stud wrestler like hamil couldn't get him downLots of guys have matched or outwrestled Hendo's wrestling, and that fight was very close. Hammil couldn't even take down Rich Franklin, could he? Plus, like I said, Rampage has excellent takedown defense against the shot, which is what Matt was continually going for. Excellent wrestlers like Hammil, Arona, and Randleman could not take Rampage down with doubles, but a guy like Ninja could take him down -- even slam him -- from the clinch.
Rampage used to have awesome takedown defense, but he breaks during fights. Although I think the Griffin fight was too close to call, during the second round Rampage got ragdolled. Think about the potential that Jones has to make it a lot worse.
even if Jones takes him down, he wont do anything with it..Rampage is the toughest guy to keep on his back..he always finds a way back to his feet. It's a 50/50 fight

Watching fights first, then commenting about them is my personal reccomendation for you. Hammil took Franklin down easily, when he wanted him down. He didnt try to get him down other than a couple times, and seemed to feel he could win the fight standing/felt uncomfortable in Rich's guard.

He didnt get ragdolled, unless you think it means something it doesnt. He went down from many, many leg kicks, not a takedown. He did get grapple raped though, if that is what you mean.
That's what I meant and he is a shadow of himself in Pride.

I like Rampage but after watching Griffin (who may have even lost the overall fight) tool him during the second using top game, I am not convinced that Rampage has much of a shot at getting up if Jones takes him down. Jones has some of the best top position and G n P in the business right now.

Oh shit! Does this mean the surgery is back on! lol.
My gut tells me Rampage wins this....no, wait......I was just hungry...Jones via TKO.

even with a fucked up knee, Griffin didn't do shit with his top game lol, he was covering Rampage like a blanket..I've watched the fight about 5 times, every time the worse score I can come up with for Page is a draw.
Jones can have Fedor like GNP, doesn't mean shit no one has GNP Rampage.
