Does Spencer Fisher deserve a prelim fight?

I'm gonna break down his career so far in the UFC and let you guys decide. He's on the Undercard October 25th.

Thiago Alves- Won...Featured on Best of 07...great triangle!

Aaron Riley- Won...Broke Aarons jaw in 1st round.

Sam Stout #1- Lost...took fight on 3 days notice. Candidate for fight of the year. Received fight of night bonus.

Matt Wiman- Won...Flying Knee! Classic knockout!

Dan Lauzon- Won...Dan had balls to take the fight. Made history by being youngest fighter in UFC history.

Hermes Franca- Lost...First time Spencer was ever stopped in his career. Spencer was out on his feet, but never went down. Received fight of the night bonus.

Sam Stout 2- Won...Fight of the year candidate and won fight of the night. Main event on Spike tv.

Frank Edgar- Lost...Boring fight against a superior wrestler. Can happen to any exciting fighter.

Jeremy Stephens- Won...tooks 6 months off due to an injury, but still won the fight. Not his best performance, but pulled off some badass elbows that had fans talking.

6-3 in the UFC. Yes, he's fighting a guy who isn't known...but is it justified?

... but he hasn't been on a TV reality show

I'd always watch Fisher fight.  Long live the King!

Haha! True about the reality television show!

Does he deserve to be in the pre-lims? No but hes fighting a guy who has fought in the UFC once...So I think if its all about the guy hes fighting that gives that Pre-lim type of fight...

He will be back on tv no worries...I enjoy the hell out of watching him

 +1.

Cindy

The good news is that he is exciting enough that maybe his fight can air on PPV if they have time or for free on UFC's site. They seem to be doing that a lot lately which I have been thankful for.

He's one of my favorite fighters. And he does a great Rick Flair.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's not an easy guy to match up. If he fights a top wrestler...good chance for a boring fight and most mediocre to good strikers don't want to risk fighting his tricky ass. Many fighters turn down fights against the King.

All I'm saying is that the guy has given a ton of great moments to the sport of MMA. This is his 10th fight...let him get paid from Sponsors the way he should. Not gonna get the same money for a prelim.

spencer fisher is the man!

"Hermes Franca- Lost...First time Spencer was ever stopped in his career."

That fight shocked me. I know Hermes is game and has power but I didnt not expect him to annihilate Fisher with the standup like that. Especially so wild.

franca got some heavy hands. even if he's not so polished

"I know Hermes is game and has power but I didnt not expect him to annihilate Fisher with the standup like that. Especially so wild."

Hermes didn't annihilate Spencer on the standup. Spencer got caught with a wild overhand right on the temple and the end of the 2nd round. With Hermes power, this could get any fighter dizzy. Spencer was winning the standup exchanges until this point. When you like to stand in the pocket and throw punches, eventually you're gonna get caught.

I agree- Spencer should be making some $$$ and be on the main card. The UFC is just being careful with thier billing because of the DEEP talent pool. They spend tons of money in P and A (Print and Advertising) certain fighters and they need to see a return on that via PPV buys. They havent really been pushing Spencer because of his injury, but after he get 2 more wins, he'll be right back in title contention.

He's the best striker in a wrestling stacked division. They need him and he will get the $$$.

IMO

Good input from Jason Chambers. Nice to see a fellow pro who understands the game show respect.

Spencer has had giant pics on several billboards across the country and even on walls of bus stations around the world punching Sam Stout. He's been on posters that were sold in malls and had so many of his fights shown time and time again on Unleashed and the Best of Shows. I know for a fact that Dana White loves him and the fans love him...and please don't think for a second that Spencer is bitching about being on an undercard. That's just me because I love watching the guy fight! He gives hope to tough kids around the world who didn't grow up on a wrestling mat.

yes, if not main card. not main event though

ANY of the dominant wrestlers at 155 would beat him. That's the problem.

Edgar showed exactly what Griffin, Maynard or Sherk would do to him. Those other guys are all in the top 10 of the UFC's LW division. That's too many top guys that would give him a surefire L.

Fisher REALLY needs to work on his wrestling.

 Yes, it's justified IMO.

1. 155 is stacked as hell.

2. It's not your overall record that's important for questions like this, it's your recent win streak and momentum.

3. He's fighting Shannon Gugerty.

4. His loss to Edgar was pretty disappointing.  I know Edgar is a powerful wrestler, but I was personally very disappointed with Spencer's lack of takedown defense, footwork, and inability to do anything on the ground.

No, chances are his fight will be 1 of the best of the night.
