Don Frye's weekly segment ideas?

Time to whore the show some more.

As mentioned in my previous post, Don Frye has agreed to come on board and do a weekly segment.

I was thinking first about the Dear Don segment meets radio, but I also want to strike with originality.

I was then thinking of a DNN (a knock on CNN) where he can give his thoughts on the daily news, current events, etc.

Any thoughts on what you the audience would like to see?

 ttt

How long will the latest attempt to capitalize on the now-defunct "Ask Don" segment last?

under 2.5 weeks -300
over 2.5 weeks +300
4 weeks or more +1000

Fake, I'm actually really thinking about going with a segment different from Dear Don. I want something a little more original and don't want to beat a dead horse.

Basically, I'm looking for the show to be different from the norm.

Don Frye fan for life here. Here's a HL vid I did of his career:

Don is comedy gold when he gives his views. I would have him give his views on current events, specifically politics and celebrity gossip. Pure politically incorrect rants that would bring great ratings. Don talking about illegal immigrants, gays in the military, his thoughts on Lady Gaga.. you get the idea

Whats eating Don? Just let the man say whatever is pissing him off that week. Doesnt have to be mma related.

BTW the America F*&%$ Yeah! would be a great intro song for the show... lol  Nice work Jimmersonz

Thanks...Don is the man. I'd love to hear a real comprehensive interview about everything but not many people are capable of that. You'd need Bob Carson to do the MMA part and Meltzer to do the Puroresu part...it'll never happen but that would be my ideal scenario. Or I'd do my best to help you prepare if you wanted to do a serious retrospective interview.

*edited to add....Don's schtick makes me laugh a lot and I loved Dear Don and the spots he's done in recent years on shows but sometimes I really think the comedy overshadows his real career acomplishments for new fans. He won 2 UFC tourneys in the NHB days. He was an OG boxer/wrestler hybrid and smashing a legit BJJ black belt like Bitteti like that back in the day was no joke. Frye's entrance for the Yvel fight right after 911 was memorable. He had the balls to fight Lebanner under K-1 rules in the biggest MMA show of all time. The Shamrock fight & buildup in Pride was epic. And for pro wrasslin, he wrestled cultural icon Inoki in his retirement match...what a huge honor.

Not to get all serious, but the dude is a legit legend...and its awesome that he has a sense of humor to bring the LOLs...but just remember, it wouldnt be funny if just anyone was sayin it....its funny cuz its NHB LEGEND....Don Frye.

Owned, I actually got that DNN idea when he closed the show he cohosted with us three weeks ago by going on an anti-Obama rant that I found to be gold.

Don Frye has always been a gold mine for quotes and saying what's on his mind.. Put him and Heath together, its going to be ratings goldmines.. Throw Randleman in the mix?

VTFU.

Don Frye was one of those guys who win, lose or draw left his hat in the cage. There was no question, when you fought the old Gunslinger, you were getting a war.. Period.

You knew two things when you fought Frye.. You were getting the mother of all staredowns, and you were getting your ass kicked. If you were fortunate enough to get the better of him, count your lucky stars. I truly considered him to be the original Smashing Machine.. In a lot of ways, he opened doors that had yet to be open.

The guy truly and sincerely is a legend of the sport.

i don't think it even matters. just let him on and start talking. he's the funniest fucker in MMA, and regardless of his topic he's hilarious.

Hell start up a 'you know what grinds my gears?' peter griffin segment and let him go lol

Don is awesome. Ive met him a couple times always cool. The DNN idea is a good one IMO.

ANYTHING w/ Don Frye is gold! Keep us posted!

TheTFC - Well, you obviously want to get Don to kind of go on an epic rant. It could be telling stories, answering listener questions, or responding to current events (I would stay away from stuff like gays, etc. Shit can be funny without being politically incorrect).

I think they can kind of all be combined into one brand and delivered the same way:

Don Frye's Must-Ask (get it?)

If he wants to rip on Lady GaGa, have a "listener submitted question" that says, "Don, I must ask you your opinion of Lady Gaga.

He goes on an epic rant.

He has a funny story to tell about so-and-so? Have a "listener submitted question" that asks "Don, I must ask you - what's the funniest fighter story you have?"

He goes on epic rant.

DON FRYE'S MUST-ASK.

Wow sounds like "Ask Don" again Bob

So it's "Ask Don" again, right? Just to clarify

Don is gold, I remember him doing commentary on pride like half an hour after Goodridge headkicked him. The guy is a beast. I'm no geographer but I'm pretty sure Don Frye is America.

TheTFC -
Fake Rassler - So it's "Ask Don" again, right? Just to clarify

To clarify, I have never listened to the show so I have no idea.

A Saab SUV is just a GMC Envoy with a higher end brand name and custom touches. There are many more examples.

So, if my suggestion of the segment is how the "Ask Don" was previously and it was unsuccessful, the much, much better branded "DON FRYE'S MUST-ASK" may be all he needs to have a better known segment.

It's "Ask Don" again

^^^What sort of fee do you usually command (ask) for this sort of consulting work, Bob? ;) Your big idea is to bring back "Ask Don" again

Didn't you say you quit doing that? I feel like you may have lied to me! :(
