Don Rickels

Just stumbled on the fact that Don Rickels did these short "interviews" with celebs. AARP put that out in 2017 and just found out he died that year a month before he would have turned 91.

Crazy if he also shot these in 2017, being 90 years old and still wanting to work.

Guy had a pretty legendary run in comedy and lived a pretty epic life from what little I know of him.

Pretty sure Don hosted the first big roasts that were put out to the public. One of the first insult comics with a quick wit.

Never liked Rickels until I saw him on Seinfeld’s podcast. He told some cool Vegas stories and was funny as hell.

Yeah nothing I've seen of him was mind blowing stuff but I've always like the roast format.

his best was when he was on a date with some girl… and Frank Sinatra was having dinner with his “crew” at another table

Don’s date pointed Frank out and Rickles ( wanting to score ) said he knew Frank and they were friends

Don went over to Franks table and asked frank if he would mind stopping by and saying hello… it would help him with the lady.

Sure enough Frank stopped by the table on his way out and politely introduced himself as a friend of Dons

Rickles turned to Frank and said something like Hey Frank… you’re interrupting… Can’t you see i’m out on a date

FUCKING TO FRANK SINATRA!!!

Best story ever

another golden Rickles rant

No one could talk to Frank like this without swimming with the fishes after

I just watched one to the very end when the guest is speaking to the camera alone and I see they put the dates they were shot... so yeah, that series was shot in 2017, the same year he died. Just think its cool he did that series despite being 90 with health problems.

Met him once when I was bartending in Reno. After a 90 min set he came in the back and spent 5 minutes being incredibly gracious and working the room of cocktail staff and even made the old bag cashier laugh.

He's was all cl ass.

Yeah Sinatra loved Sir Rickles.

The one that gets me is him doing a standup routine at 5 AM in a casino bar. Trying to make drunk degenerate gamblers laugh while eating a salad cracked me up. Like Rickles says, it’s about how he delivers a joke not really the content. He is just plain funny.

Hilarious guy. His small part in dirty work was even funny

He was old school smooth ball buster!

He's the king of the Friers Club Roasts and so fucking quick. I'm a decently witty guy but I'd have a stroke in a room with him and Dangerfield. They were like race cars that could win the race spinning their wheels for 100 laps. Pure overdrive.

Rickels is amazing.
