Don't bring up Fedor as GOAT

Fedor fought in PRIDE guys.... Like do we really need to have this conversation with you fucks?

PRIDE stands for PEDS, ROIDS, IVs, DIAHRETICS and E.P.O

And thats before we even get into the fact that for one there are many many credible claims of Fake Fights and works all over the place

It was run by the fucking Yakuza

I mean its well known at this point that they had a clause in their fighter contracts telling them they would never test them for roids essentially giving them the signal that they encourage it.

No discernable rankings worth a fuck which leads to Fedor fighting guys in freak show fights like Hong Man Choi

Then what happens as soon as Fedor goes into a credibly run decent org in Strikeforce? KO loss to Big Foot, KO Loss to Hendo and Sub loss to Werdum.

And don't even with that embarressing shit show in Russia against Maldonado where he "won".

If Fedor wanted to be in the GOAT conversation then he should have joined the UFC when he had the shot instead of fighting in freak show orgs that allowed him to roid.

More asteriks than you can count on all your hands and feet.

Stipes the GOAT

Two different eras.  And even though the wins carry over from promotion to promotion, it almost feels like two different sports.

This is not me saying Fedor isnt great.

He is a legend obviously and very ahead of his time in terms of skillset and approach to the game.

But GOAT? With that many asteriks you have to ignore way way way too much to have him in the same conversation as guys like Stipe.

I agree

Oh good, another immortal troll account. You forgot to mention that strikeforce was accused of fixing fights under coker and being "shady" as well, though, when you were painting it with broad strokes of virtue and "credibility".

Fedor, the guy who at 34 years old got knocked out cold by a 40 yeard old middleweight. That Fedor.

Yeah, Fedor fought against those roided freaks, so what's your point?

Bottom line, I think prime Fedor would have beaten either DC or Stipe tonight, but that's all speculation.

Nobody can deny the top 5 heavyweights though:

Fedor, DC, Stipe, Cain, Werdum

fedor is a one of a kind. like mike tyson. fedor fought tournaments, also pride rule set had knees to the ground. those were brutal. you think an elbow hits hard. wait to you get a knee to your head. 10 minute round vs 5 minute rounds. ring is smaller then a cage. so less space to runaway from fights.

did fedor lost fights, ofcourse. mike tyson did as well. but still to this day we remember mike tyson. and fedor will be the same. a winning record is not what makes fighters the Goat. its the way they fight and win. fedor always fought forward win or lose. never once a boring fight. how many fighters can say that?

Stipe killed Maldonado in 35 seconds. Fedor got dropped and abused for 3 rounds by Maldonado.

I’d swap JDS for Cain despite going 1-2 in the trilogy, he has more big wins and had a much higher level of competition than Cain.

Fedor wasn’t particularly popular in Japan compared to other fighters like Crocop and Nogueira, so there would’ve been little reason to fake fights in his favor. He was the first heavyweight to exhibit high level submissions, takedowns, gnp, and striking on top of moving like a middleweight. This allowed him to stay ahead of the competition of his era for a long time.

When Fedor fought smart, he was truly great. But then he went to Holland in preparation for CroCop and fell in love with striking. He then beat CroCop and held his own in standup with him, which convinced him that he is a great striker. In K-1 CroCop would be beaten him pretty easily. After that his fight IQ went completely out of the window. Started throwing windmill punches and became very sloppy relying purely on his lightning speed and reactions.

Fedor I think is the only top fighter to start as a complete fighter training with killers like Illoukhine, Kopylov, Kharitonov, and others in the Russian Top Team and then de-evolve into a one dimensional brawler surrounded by easy training partners.

Troll, an even playing field vs the likes of Jones and Silva abusing roids in supposed to be clean playing field, Pride holds far more weight in my eyes, that was and always will be the pinacle

When Fedor was doing his thing in Pride, the UFC was small time in comparison. The best heavy weights at the time were in Pride. They were packing huge stadiums while the UFC was doing casino auditorum type shows. It was the biggest and best show on earth.

I was a huge UFC fan back then too. Most of the die hard fans favored Pride fights. I liked the UFC more because I had Direct TV and enjoyed live fights. Later Pride got on PPV but the events were shown a week later. The not being live took a bit away for me as a fan. Lots of people stayed up all night reading descriptions of what was going on in Japan.

During that time, I think Fedor would have easily been UFC champion. He was a beast.

You put gsp in that list? With never failing a test? But Fedor is not? Has Fedor ever been tested? Seems to me that when Fedor started getting tested is when he started losing.

too bad we will never find out because fedor ducked the UFC twice

clearly he didn't have as much confidence of becoming UFC champ as his fans did

well actually fedor got beat 3x in a row in strikeforce so I think that pretty much shows us he would have lost in the UFC just as badly
