Anyone try Twilight Struggle (not related to the saggy tween werewolf movies)?
I'm looking to buy a new 2 player game that involves some actual strategy and ability...I need suggestions.
Chess
Blood Bowl
Descent
Zombies!!!
I play chess with my best bro, that's a no-brainer; I am referring to something less obvious. None of the usual suspects like backgammon, hearts, or Mycockoly.
I like Cranium.
Arkham Horror
Settlers of Catan is a little nerdy and needs more like 4 or 5 people to really have fun, but its a great game. A lot of the strategy in my experience is how well and mercilessly you can haggle (you have to trade different resources back and forth to build shit, its a dominance trough commerce type game), and if you like that sort of thing it's a ton of fun. The free market forces are in strong force, and I used to love just butchering the shit out of my friends by aggressively talking them in to unwise trades that took advantage of their weaknesses. It was hilariously fun!
Have you looked in to Go, if you're trying to stick to 2 person games? The type of thinking is like chess, IMO, but its formless (no prearranged starting formations) and ridiculously difficult to play skillfully. I read many people should expect to lose their first 100 or so games if they're playing am established player of even low skill.
Big fan of board games.
I have not played twilight struggle yet but I want to.
Currently in my rotation are dominion, power grid, pandemic, carcassone, munchkin, and agricola.
I recently stumbled onto Agricola and I am a big fan, you should check it out. Don't be deterred that it seems difficult in the beginning.
Pass out
Twilight Struggle is ok. My brother and I bought it because of its reputation and we are always looking for good 2 player games.
We still play Stratego more lol but it is fun enough I suppose.
Battle Line is AWESOME, and Lost Cities is always quick fun as well. Any Reiner Knizia game will be quality.
Some of the deck building games are pretty fun, like Dominion. There's another one we've played many times that I like and the name escapes me, it's a deck builder with a space theme I'll have to try and find it.
But seriously get Battle Line!
Race for the Galaxy, that's it! Fun game.
Stone Age is also great if you can get 3 player but 2 is ok.
Ticket to Ride, Risk...
If you can get a group together, Betrayal at House on the Hill is an amazing game to play in a group. It's a cooperative game where the group explores a haunted mansion. Halfway through the game someone in the group turns evil and has to sabotage the rest of the players who work together to kill the evil friend.
Carcassone? You place tiles to build cities and road. Pretty good strategic that works well for 2 people and up to 5 (6 with expansions)
Plays 30 to 40 minutes
I forgot to mention Samurai! It's an awesome 2 player game. Man i haven't played it in a while, gonna have to break it out.
Most of these I've never heard of. Seems like I'm missing out on some fun in life.
Cards of humanity is awesome. Need to play with laid back people though!
Avalon hill's Advanced Squad Leader. The mother of all board games. Be prepared to get your rules lawyer hat on

Sounds dope...I can talk my gf into anything.
Thanks for these suggestions guys, I'm going to write each of them down and research them.
