Schwab's first match will be a tough opponent. Stadnik (UKR) was the bronze medalist at the 2006 world championship, and also took 5th in 2007. However, Stadnik did not do as at well at this year's European Championships, taking 7th.
Despite the difficult initial opponent, Schwab got a fairly good draw, as the other side of the bracket has 3 of the top 4 finishers in last year's world championships (one first round match is a rematch of last year's world championship finals!), along with Barzakov (BUL) the 2 x world champion and Olympic silver medalist.
The winner of Schwab's first match will face Kumar (IND), who placed 7th at the 2007 world championships.
A likely semifinalist on Schwab's half of the bracket is Farniev (RUS), a 2007 bronze medalist and 2003 world champion.
