Seriously, I give it a 4.5. Not very good. They don't have the fighters
Pride had and they don't have the atmosphere. It was like an old Heros
card, not Pride.
I enjoyed it, except for the aoki/JZ thing, I was impressed with the 1st round winner sof the Grand Prix
The best fight was Alvarez v Dida. The rest were just not up to standard.
Biggest problem is there is no feeling in DREAM. It is sterile.
Terrible fights? Did you see the Hansen fight??? Or the Alvarez/Dida fight? And, although it was not the most exciting fight ever, it was interesting to see Kawajiri nearly be upset by Black Mamba.
And it was hard to judge the ones where they just showed highlights...

It's called BUDO. Only Pride had it. It's a very strange thing. We can liken it to charisma or aura.
I don't know why Pride had that magic. It seems hard to recreate.
Complaining about the "feeling" or "atmosphere" on an MMA card is just beyond pathetic. The card was well matched and it's not the promotion's fault that JZ/Aoki ended in such a bizarre and disappointing way. It was a solid card, period.
Evil Yoshida knows what i am talking about.
You can see exciting fights in some local event in Winnipeg. That isn't the
only issue.
What do you expect from the FIRST show?! Relax, sit back and enjoy future shows... Pretty decent fights and names. Just cause some of the same organizers stepped in doesn't mean they don't need to grow the show and create a "new" atmosphere. Geez... critics.
"Like I suspected they wont last long."
Dude.
It's K-1/FEG.
They are the gigantic and combat sports is their primary business. They are going nowhere.
havent seen dida/alvarez yet, hansen/boku was great. jz/aoki type shit happens. randy/vitor II anyone?
i dont think kawajiri was "almost upset" by gill but gill def apparently held his own. i dont think the outcome was ever in doubt but no one expected gill to last in this one. good for gill, not so good for KJ, one of the tourney favs but a wins a win.
people always sleeping of the poor canadians :)kultar is a great stand up fighter and now a purple belt under bibiano fernandez in bjj that makes him pretty tough in B.C which in one of canada's best .
im not suprised to see him handle himself well vs anyone in teh ring
"If history tells us anything it's that opening rounds are usually boring with the exception of the 2003 MW Opening Round."
Gomi vs. Kawajiri?
Sakurai vs. Pulver?
"Yeah cause those 14 fighters were all nobodies......."
I wouldn't say that at all.
i agree that DREAM has the potential to be bigger than pride ever was. But i think with tanigawa at the helm it will have that dirty feeling.. similar to what you feel from UFC.
DREAM definitely does stack their cards and they do have many of the best fighters on the planet.
this last DREAM card was definitely the deepest single event since Pride folded.
I thought it was just fine aside from the Aoki/JZ debacle. Have no idea where people are getting all these ideas about its aura or budo or whatever nonsense.
my fave part was Minowa fighting a fat kid and crocop beating up the car park attendent.
lol @ commenting on the "atmosphere" from 3000 miles away
Great fighters; so-so match-ups
It's a tournamnent though, so I understand. Next round will probably me better.
i thought it was pretty good
i enjoyed it
sure JZ/Aoki was a disapointment, but it was entertaining nonetheless
