Dumb question RE: UFC

Is the cage smaller this event. It looks slightly smaller Phone Post

Now that you mention it, it does look smaller at certain angles.

Might just be an illusion.

They have different sizes of cages depending on where the event is. Joe mentioned it on one of his podcasts.

I hope it is smaller, it helps with pushing the action Phone Post

Thanks for that info. Makes sense i guess Phone Post

Wow, great question and great answer.

I had no idea about this and had never noticed.  Does anyone recall how different they are?  What the different dimensions are?

Joe said they use different cages for ppvs and fight nights. I dont recall him saying anything about different locations. Phone Post

Seems like many of the free TV fights are smaller. But those also happen to be in the palms or hard rock a lot. Ive read some examples of different dimensions.

TUF, Fight Nights etc use a small cage. PPV is the big cage.

I think PPV is 25 ft cage, small one is 20. This one looks normal size Phone Post

Pearl at the palms uses the small cage, so do most if the troops fights Phone Post

I kinda wish they'd use a smaller cage for all events. It would force people to engage more. Phone Post

The fights were more exciting tonight...I am just sayin'

full sized ufc cage is 30 ft. The smaller one is 26.

what i don't understand is how they go on and on about wanting unified rules and such... and not have a unified cage size...

obviously wrestlers want to fight in the smaller cage... and strikers in the larger one...

they need to stop doing this and have ONE SIZE of CAGE.

Bellator's round cage looked huge

Bellator's round cage looks monstarous when you get the little guys and the women fights in it.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is thinking about shrinking its cage.

"We've been talking about making the Octagon smaller," UFC President Dana White told Yahoo Sports. "We're considering making it smaller. (UFC matchmaker) Joe Silva wants it. I think he wants to turn the thing into a ... bathtub. Have them fight in a little tollbooth."

Unless they did choose to change it it's 32 feet across normally but on the smaller venues it's 30 feet (or 28, not sure right now).

Also, the fence and posts are supposed to take a foot or two

I think they have a standard size unless theyre in a tiny venue like the Palms. I know the WEC cage was considerably smaller
