Total Punch Control.
Using the analogue sticks instead of the buttons to throw punches will give EA MMA a huge edge over UFC. Total punch control brings with it a sense of immersion not found with button mashing. It makes the game much more intuitive and will be enough to make the difference when it comes to EA MMA being the better game.
In my opinion, EA has a ten year jump on THQ in terms of developing an MMA game. The work they have done on Knockout Kings and Fight Night will translate well into their MMA game. Collision detection, individual styles, balance regarding fighter attributes... EA has gone down these roads before.
Yea, lets just hope the gameplay gets better than it was at E3
I do like the Fight Night games with the stick-controlled punches.
I wonder how they'll do kicks & grappling moves within the context of total punch control though?
hope their online works....
You dont have to use the stick, you can use buttons if you want
you use a button modifier to turn your punch into a kick
Unfortunatly the game does have some flaws
the roster is much smaller with less talent than Undisputed, the kicks look horrible along with the G&P
and as of yet i dont see how the fighters are unique, i saw Fedor do an omoplata and Jacare throwing spinning hook kicks
With that said, i think the gameplay will still be balanced and fast paced and not the L&P hold the stickfest that is currently Undisputed 10
if the online play is good, it'll beat ufc 2010 just on that alone.
I love the analog controls for Fight Night 4. Those that say it's hard to get the right movement are just noobs.
The EA MMA game will dominate THQ/UFC in gameplay.
Fight Night Round 4 > UFC Undisputed
I use controller setting 5 for Fight Night Round 4, and prefer the analog sticks for movement and blocking
