will you have tournaments in Florida?

We will hold tournaments in various states within the defined East Coast area. Florida is a target state.

We need a couple a year in the New England states!!

Adam

East Coast meaning the entire East Coast, including Canada? :)

Lynn,
Is there any potential to hold events in New York? I know there have always been questions about the legality of holding jiu-jitsu events in this State.

Adam,

The target is more than that. You will like the schedule.

ggovel,

We are working towards that right now. Obviously NYC would be a
great place to have a touney. I'll keep you posted. When the
website goes up there will be a news and information page on
there giving constant updates with what is going on with the ECJJF.

Kneeblock...

Thanks for the support! As soon as the website is up and running,
it will have all of the information as to how to become a part of it.
The ECJJF will set new standards for the future of the sport. Being
an extension of the CBJJ/IBJJF, we will bring the sport to a new
level in the future. We will bring major events to the East Coast
and those states falling under the blanket of the ECJJF. Stay tuned
and get ready!

it's IMPOSSIBLE to hold events in New York. This is a State Athletic commission issue, not a 'would be nice' thing. it's legal, and whoever is running this would get fuct in a bad way.

I dont know I was under the impression that there was a New York Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federeation was in the works. Supposedly thers a tournament set up for April.
Im not sure about the whole legalities of it but I know of tournaments that have went down within the last year or two.

Kosta,
It is not illegal to hold events in NYC if you are a part of the
approved groups/promoters by the NYAC. We have been in
contact with them regarding this issue. If you are a licensed
promoter and have all necessary issues in place then all things are
possible. I will keep you guys up to date with the progress. We are
in the process of securing a NYC location that will be convenient
for everyone and give you the opportunity to enjoy the city whilst
you are here for a competition. Keep your fingers crossed and we
hope that this all goes through soon for a city event to match up
with our other planned happenings!

Makutapwitbjj...I don't know about a NYBJJF. Who are they under?
We will be an extension of the CBJJ/IBJJF.

The NYBJJF was the group that got BJJ approved by the athletic commission. Their first tournament is scheduled for sometime in April and is rumored to be combined with a Helio Gracie Seminar.

I hear they have some major sponsors.

Eric...that is another step forward for BJJ then. Who is heading it
up? I think that must be headed up by Master Mansur from Kioto
in Long Island. I talked with him a couple of years ago about
something like this. Maybe he got it to come into fruition.

The ECJJF is an extension of the CBJJ and will oversee all events
affiliated with the CBJJ under our defined area of the US. This area
will cover states as far over as Illinois and go down and over to the
East. We will basically take the Eastern half of the US and develop
programs and competitions to help further grow our sport of BJJ
and Submission Wrestling.

I hope that Georgia is on you list for holding tournaments. We need to have more events for our students to be part of.
