Fight Nerd reporter Hiroko Yamamura caught up with former Bellator FC lightweight champion, Eddie Alvarez, at yesterday’s UFC on Fox 2 press workout to help with Michael Johnson during his last week of fight prep against Shane Roller. Eddie confirmed his bout against Shinya Aoki for us, saying the fight will be in April and is just waiting to sign the contract to make the rematch happen. Alvarez also talks about his loss to Michael Chandler at Bellator 59 and his outlook on MMA.
Nice!!!!
Didn't watch the video. Is the fight in Japan or Bellator? Aoki is getting f'd up if it's in a cage.
TTT for a sick LW fight. The above is for those who don't remember the first time these two met up.
Good fight and I'll def watch but anyone else rather see Chandler/Aoki?
I mean I get what Bellator is trying to do, Eddie makes alot of money in Bellator per fight, him entering the tournament I dont know how they would pay him, I dont think Eddie at this piont is gonna take 3 fights for a total of 100k, not when everyone seems to say he makes good 6 figure money per fight.
and does anyone think Bellator is gonna pay Eddie his normal pay 3 times in 3 months? No.
Plus this is another way to get Eddie a big fight and a big win and get him hyped back up as a top LW again.
Still though Chandler/Aoki is the fight that needed to be made, it would have really put Chandler on the map as one of the top 3 LW in the world, if he can beat Eddie and Aoki, that would be huge for him and Bellator.
But its a good fight, just wonder what they do with the winner.
Chandler will have to fight the tournament winner when everyone in the sport would much rather see Chandler fight Eddie/Aoki winner.
Bellators format blows, it really does and I expect it to change when they move to Spike.
Good shit, I hoped this was still happening.
hell yes!
NICE!!
Should be in a cage. They fought in a ring the first time and it should be fair

Nice of Bellator to let Eddie get his reputation back up before he jumps to the UFC.
smiter - Nice of Bellator to let Eddie get his reputation back up before he jumps to the UFC.![]()
Aoki is gonna submit him again
Chris27 - Good fight and I'll def watch but anyone else rather see Chandler/Aoki?Agreed. Bellator needs to jump at every single chance to create/cement a new star.

Wait. So Eddie is a Whitezillian now?
ttt
DoomFarmer -OnlyTheStrongSurvive - Aoki is gonna submit him again.
Aoki via sub... Again
aoki makes quick work of eddie once again.
Eddie can only become champion or compete for the title again in Bellator if he wins a tournament. Anyone have a feeling that maybe Eddie Alvarez doesn't want to go for the Bellator LW title again? Just putting that out there.

The Irony of these two post is that if it wasn't for the format that Bellator runs, Chandler /new star would not have happened.
Sorry, but without that tournament format, I doubt Chandler would've been able to make a name for himself and get a big name fight like Eddie Alvarez.
Tournament format=Greater than SF's Brett Rogers getting a title shot coming off of a loss, greater than UFC giving Randy Couture title shots, Patrick Cote title shots, etc....
EVERY Bellator title fight you have at least one solid argument for the match being made-the challenger earned it via fighting.
SF and UFC can't say the same.
