Eddie Alvarez “I tried out for The Ultimate Fighter & got denied”

I’ve heard many behind the scenes stories about potential TUF cast members, but I never knew Eddie Alvarez was almost on TUF!

According to Eddie Alvarez, he said he got a phone call one day and the person was like “are you ready?” And he’s like “who’s this?” And the voice said “it’s Dana White, are you ready to fight?” And Eddie said yes and flew out to Vegas to attend the The Ultimate Fighter Season 2 tryouts. He was going to be in the 170lb tournament with Melvin Guillard, Joe Stevenson, Josh Burkman, etc.

Eddie said he was even willing to miss the birth of his son to be on that show! He just quit his construction job and got support from his wife to do MMA full time.

But it turns out he didn’t get on the show, and he’s thankful that he didn’t sign that TUF contract and he got to be there for the birth of his son.

At 15:30 minute mark:

Missing the birth of his child to be on TUF would make him THE ULTIMATE FAGGOT

He was willing to do it and accepted it. He went to Vegas believing he would be there 6 weeks.

He also reveals his first contract outside of regional MMA he was making 30K per fight for Bodog. Back then that was really good money!
