will be a great one. hansen has a sick chin and a brown belt in BJJ. beat up yves on the ground. If eddie takes him down i think he will get swept and TKOd.
eddie is a beast but hansen KO/TKO round 1 either standing or from a sweep
Good luck, really tough match up but he looked great in the first round.
Actually there really isn't going to be any easy match ups from here on.
I'm going to take a shot and say this year will be big for Eddie, yes this fight will be tuff for him, as every other fight. maybe after this Alvarez win the naysayers will know he is the real deal,
ALVAREZ by TKO in 1st

I am extremely excited for this fight to take place. I hope that nothing happens to either fighter that would put this fight off. Both had very exciting first round fights. I have been a big fan of Joachim Hansen for a long time, but also am excited for Eddie Alvarez to do well.
I don't know which way to pick! Sure is a nice luxury to have as a fan. A tough match that is tough to pick a winner.
FreekHamakerFan - Eddie's Wrestling might be too much for Hansen. Agreed. This will be a big test for Hansen imo. Joachim would have done better facing the overrated Kawajiri or someone else.
Big test for Hansen?
Better off facing Kawajiri?
Wasa-B, people just talking out their asses; Hell Boy is the easy favorite over Alvarez. I am just hoping Eddie can pull off another big upset in this GP.
I like Alvarez but always been a huge fan of Hansen so got to root for him, this is guaranteed to be a good fight though, cant wait to see it.
Alvarez via guys get tougher when knocked out by goats....
i understand why so many people are under estimating alvarez again. i dont think it will be an upset at all if he beats hansen. like it wasnt when he beat dida. alvarez has a great skill set to cause lots of trouble at 155. im not saying he will crush hansen or anything, but it wont be an upset if he wins.
If you are the underdog and you win isn't that by definition an upset?
sgavin I just now got that.. lol
anyone who bothers to look in to both guys skills sets sees that there is no underdog in this fight. both guys are quite evenly matched. of course if you want to go strictly by betting odds then i guess alvarez is the underdog. but little bit more than just winning percentages goes in to those numbers.
Bad Ass fight!
JB,
Alvarez is definitely the underdog in this match there is no debating that fact. Alvarez winning would be an upset.
With that said I agree with you that Alvarez' skill set is good enough to beat Hansen. Eddie has excellent hands, wrestling and G&P - super quick with his transitions as well.
Hansen though has the more evolved, all-around game and has faced and beaten higher ranked fighters; JZ, Uno, Yves Edwards, Rumino Sato and Gomi.
Eddie was/is my darkhorse pick from the beginning to win this GP. Hopefully he gets it done. Go Eddie!
i'd have to go with hansen on that one.
Kansas Comet - JB,
Alvarez is definitely the underdog in this match there is no debating that fact. Alvarez winning would be an upset.
then in what aspects hansen out classes alvarez so much that it makes him a clear cut favourite? hansens bottom game is better and has a bit better gas tank, which is negated by the fact that alvarez is a much better wrestler and stronger.
hansen has also very recently lost to an opponent much worse than alvarez whom alvarez would beat easily. while alvarez only loss is to a guy who would beat the tar out of hansen.
the only thing hansen has over alvarez is bigger names on his record, which helps him none once the fight starts.
