Edgar vs Aldo may still happen

There was disappointment in the air on Tuesday when the announcement was made that UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo would be forced out of UFC 153 after suffering a foot injury from a motorcycle accident from a few days earlier.

Aldo’s removal from the UFC 153 fight card also led to former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar being pulled from the show.

Edgar had stepped in as a late notice replacement to face Aldo at UFC 153 due to Erik Koch‘s removal when he suffered a knee injury.

If there is a positive side to this entire ordeal for Edgar, it’s the fact that, while he won’t get a title shot against Aldo at UFC 153, he will still likely get the next crack at the featherweight belt.

Sources indicated to MMAWeekly.com on Thursday that all signs are pointing towards a Jose Aldo/Frankie Edgar fight as soon as the champion is back on his feet and ready to compete again.

anyone else feel like thats a bit bullshit?

 Define bullshit, I'm confused.

I think it's awesome. If they weren't planning on holding this fight at a later date, they would've kept Edgar on the card.

Not bullshit in the least. Neither of those guys should fight anyone else next. Edgar will by far be the toughest fight Aldo has ever had, and there isn't anyone else who is a more legit threat to take Aldo's belt. This may even be better since both guys will now get a full camp to train for each other specifically.

May not be the most "fair" thing to do, but its the biggest money fight for Aldo so you can't really complain imo. Phone Post

If by bullshit, you mean, FUCKING AWESOME, then yeah, I agree Phone Post

I love the aldo/edgar fight but why should a guy who lost two straight title fights get an automatic shot in a new division?

Think it makes a lot more sense for Edgar to have a fight at 145 first

He was the champ for a while he deserves it why the hell not? Phone Post

He's 2-2-1 in his last 5.
Lost his belt this year and lost his immediate title shot this year, and he deserves a shot in another weight class?
He was only champ for "a while" because he rematched all his opponents he had while champion.

Please tell me why Edgar deserves it over Koch....a guy who was promised the shot 2x. Hell Edgar is less deserving as Mendes and Charles Oliveira. Phone Post
