where in NY are you?
NYC
you still looking for a place to start training or just a new place? i
remember you were looking like 3 yrs ago. also in queens is Combined
martial arts.
also in the city, Ronin Athletics (sbgi nyc) just relocated to a new private
full-time facility which is fantastic and has classes six days a week from
noon till late. check www.roninathletics.com for schedule and prices, etc.
Christian's done an awesome job with the new gym and it's getting better
everyday.
hey, yeah well at the time I was out looking for places to train. I think it was more like 4 years ago?
I have been out of the scene for 2 years now, school and life take its toll.
I was training at Renzos a while back but when they restructured I couldn't afford it anymore.
I spoke to Christian before and trained with him once. Great guy I really like him. The facility looks real awesome too. I am just not down with contractual arrangements.
I got some info on Eduardo Santos's school. Looks real good, no contracts, lots of classes, within driving distance from me, cheaper than other places to train. I'm going to check out a class and see how i like it.
just a point of clarification, christian doesn't require contracts at all. you
have an option to sign up with a billing service which can be cancelled at
any time, but it's not required. you can pay monthly (through the service
or via cash/check) or class-to-class.
i hear you about school and life... good luck with eduardo's school.
there's lots of great training in nyc. we're all very lucky.
billing service? I had e-mailed Christian before about paying monthly. I have no problem paying the full tuition however I am not signing any 1 year contracts.
there are No contracts. None.
if i am wrong i'll eat my gi.
Does Eduardo have a website.
asymmetrik, find out for me?
Eduardo doesnt have a website from what I have researched. From what im told, hes only been here for about 5 months.
find out what for you? there aren't any contracts at christian's place.
never have been, probably never will be. i can't really be more clear about
it.
and as a side note: i did not mean at all for this thread to get sidetracked.
was just trying to be helpful.
TTT for Eduardo Santos' school.
if there are no contracts, I don't know why Christian would have turned away a paying student. Oh well.
ok, so i'll eat half of my gi...
i got the info and turns out that with the new gym and the new year
coming up that there is indeed word of contracts. you were
(mostly) right, i was (mostly) uninformed. i'm not sure about the specifics
but i
think it'll be similar to how other academies have done it with some
grandfathering and it's also pretty workable if there are specific
situations, etc.
anyway. yum.
ahhh gotcha, thats unfortunate. Oh well.
grdstorm,
Do you know how much Eduardo charges and what the schedule is? thks.
Eduardo Santos? What affiliation is the Lotus Club part of? Barra? Never heard of the Lotus Club.
Lotus Club has been around for a long time in Sao Paulo, lots of good competitors and instructors. Here's a link to their site if you can read portuguese: http://www.lotusjiujitsu.com/
James
I wrote down their schedule somewhere. Classes everyday, morning and afternoon classes. Monday to Saturday, good schedule. 120 a month from what im told. NO CONTRACTS which is awesome. I am going to check out a class, I hope I love it :)
Grdstorm,
How do you like the instructor? Never heard of him as a competitor?
Grdstorm,
How do you like Eduardo's school?
Fosterbjj,
Thanks for the info. I'm fascinated by the different academies and "stylistic" differences between the schools so I'm curious what's the Lotus' preference. I thought it was interesting Jacare was so Judo focused.
