No matter what, don’t use Google’s new Allo messenger app, says Edward Snowden
The search giant's new WhatsApp competitor combines messaging with a digital assistant to allow you to chat like never before—but those who care about their privacy and mass surveillance should steer clear of the app, Edward Snowden said in a series of tweets.
Google has received much criticism for changes it made to Allo upon its release, as opposed to what privacy features it said the app would have when it was first announced back in May. Then, Google said the app would have end-to-end-encryption in "Incognito Mode" and store messages only for a limited time. However, when the app was released to the public, it did not use end-to-end-encryption and reportedly stores user messages indefinitely—which law enforcement could access with a warrant.
So, what messaging app should you use if you're worried about privacy? Snowden says the best messenger app is Signal.

AnotherTMAguy -It doesn't even matter what google chooses to monitor; Snowden proved that the NSA completely bypassed google and accesses all the data being sent/received to their servers without google even knowing.Google already monitors gmail and google usage so no surprise.

Oh so you think he is a liar because some members of Congress say he is?
Let's completely ignore that the NSA hasn't denied one single leak he has revealed. Their only response is anonamous admissions from them that they want him dead. But I'm sure every criminal wants the same of the detective that catches them red handed.

I disagree about Rand.
Ron was unique in that he stuck to his principles and didn't budge to play the political game. He got a lot of respect and a huge following but he was dead in the water. If you don't play the game you aren't getting anywhere near the presidency. If you don't win then you can't affect any change. Rand tried to compromise a bit hoping to get further than his father. It was a worthy attempt.

Snowden reccomended using the Signal messenger app a while back. That's what I use and really like it
