The only way to get better, while getting older, is to focus on being effortless with your Jiu Jitsu. In this video I am explaining why I think being effortless is the most important skill you develop in BJJ and what it takes to start becoming more and more effortless on the mat.

If you are young, and you can dominate everyone with maximum effort, and you can do this in a gym full of wrestler, don’t worry you are a great athlete and can just run through people.
Wait about 10–15 years and think again about the situation:-)

I don’t roll hard because I’m reckless. I roll hard so I can blame my cardio if I get swept or subbed.

My body does this naturally as I get older lol. But seriously, I’m starting to appreciate the material from Danaher and Henry Akins moreso as they talk a lot about body mechanics and physics. So rolling smarter rather than harder.
