Elite XC was great

You guys are whining for no reason.

Elite xc has in the space of about a year gone from being nothing to a legit second place org in north america.

The show tonight had very good production values and was filled with far less nonsense than a normal ufc fightnight. The only downside i can see is that they filled the main card entirelly with brawlers and didn't showcase the other aspects of the sport but i really wasnt surprised considering the circumstances...

Sure kimbo sucks but thats the draw of the show. They don't have anyone nearly as recognizable as him so thats just how it had to go. I'd really like some of you babies to tell me why this is the worst thing you've ever witnessed.

WEC tomorrow will blow it away

"from being nothing to a legit second place org in north america."

Like winning in the special Olympics?

5/12 fights aired... terrible early stoppages... not enough close-in camera shots of boob... makes Jack a dull boy

WEC also is a great show. They turned a somewhat compelling Faber/Pulver match into a real anticipated contest due to their marketing campaign alone.

competition is the best thing you can ask for in business. the way alot of you guys are acting seems so irrational to me. We are not seeing a IFL ambulance siren kind of deal like when they started on fox. This was a classy event with exciting fights.

great for me to poop on

I enjoyed the card but I really don't think it was what CBS or Elite XC wanted. Gina Carano has star power but many people who are watching MMA for the first time will cringe at the sight of Young's face beaten and bloodied like that.

Also, I Tivo'd the news AFTER the fights and still didn't get more than 3 minutes of the Kimbo fight. MANY people did not get to see that fight and, who knows, maybe it's better that they didn't get to see Kimbo lose 2 rounds before winning on a horrible stoppage (or so I hear).

if people didnt get to see kimbo's fight then thats bad for sure. i personally got all of it and found it preety entertaining in a non-technical brawl sort of way.

i used to laugh at people who claimed that paid posters were around here but the way that everyone is so pro zuffa and anti anything else is just strange. aren't you guys mma fans?

forget zuffa , forget elite or dream or anything. the quality of the fights is what counts and the 5 shown tonight were of decent quality and undeserving of this hate

TTT

come and debate someone with a pulse and see how your flawed logic gets destroyed.

Yeah, but it was still good, despite the Smith fight!

I love watching Lawler fight and it was a real shame we couldn't see a decision. Could've been a classic.

lawler is ultra exciting. maybe if baroni gets himself back on track we can get a lawler vs baroni fight

I don't even want to see that fight anymore. Lawler would maul him. Villasenor would be a heck of a battle.

he's fallen off bigtime.

villasenor always seemed like a B level fighter to me but i guess that says more about baroni than anything else

EliteXC has raised the bar for all other MMA shows.

villasenor/baroni was the only fight that happened without a hitch.

EVERY other fight shown had some ridiculous, unprofessional, unwarranted bullshit ending.

even if you were a casual fan you could see there was an obvious agenda at work through the whole fuckin event.

beyond that, it portrayed most of the fighters in an amateurish, pro-wrestling type light. really...in the past there has actually been talk of trying to get MMA into the olympics. well kiss that shit goodbye if this is the public face of MMA.

it wasnt the worst thing I've ever seen by a longshot...

however, it was a terrible representation of MMA.

was it any worse than having the WEC "THESE GUYS HATE EACH OTHER" constant angle they use.

or the UFC's fake heat for every main event...i don't think so.

they did the best they could making it seem like the fighters were actual people with backstories.

also the unprofesional conduct would be entirelly on the shoulders of the refs and not gary shaw's fault.

is it really elite's fault if miragliota can't make a proper call?

slaughteringyou - also the unprofesional conduct would be entirelly on the shoulders of the refs and not gary shaw's fault.

thats a good question isnt it?

I wasnt saying I dont have a problem with how other orgs promote the sport...theres plenty of unprofessionalism to go around. but "ok compared to other orgs" doesnt make it ok in my opinion. they had a big opportunity here and squandered it, and made MMA look foolish on top of it.

there is room to grow for sure. next time will be even better i hope.

just remember guys that it wasnt long ago when the first fightnight came on TV and we had to endure probly an hour and a half of that COQROQ or whatever that was commercial and had the worst production values and dead space.

elite has impecable timing and great production values on showtime its just up to them to transfer everything to network tv in a way that can please the fans and CBS too
