Emanuel knew Mickey was game so he decided not to play that game here. Great fight.

Hah! What a mad style! Never heard of this guy (not suprising, I only just started watching boxing hardcore). I will watch the full fight in work tomorrow, thanks. Any idea what his record was like?
My all time favorite. Greatest "journeyman" ever, in my opinion.
Augustus Burton vs Mickey Ward is the best fight I've ever seen. The part where Teddy Atlas starts screaming about calling your friends to tell them there is a fight on is the best fight announcing ever too. I would love to see Teddy call a UFC fight.
Yeah big fan of this guy lol - I saw the first highlight a while back and was an immediate fan

Real gangsta ass niggaz don't run for shit cause real gangsta niggaz can't run fast
NiteProwleR -A lot of those losses where bullshit home town decisions. A few more where to some great fighters. He is a good example of the record not reflecting the fighter.

Friday night fights where always epic if burton was on the card.

One of the best fighters of my generation
He would fight anyone anywhere at anytime for real.
As a result his career sucked. The right management and he would have won an alphabet title or two and gotten paydays.
HeHitsMeBecauseHeLovesMe - My all time favorite. Greatest "journeyman" ever, in my opinion.Absolutely. He definitely deserves to be in the boxing HOF one day. I can't think of anyone who's record is LESS of a reflection of their skill level. To this day he'll fight anyone, anywhere and win or lose it will be an entertaining fight.
Yeah, Burton vs Ward is in my top 5.

Came in here to say this. Burton/Ward is one of the best fights ive ever seen

I would love to see Teddy call a UFC fight.Way back in the day on Friday night fights! (Emanuel Burton though) If I remember correctly, Burton threw over 1,000 punches that fight.
Great fight! That was like '00? Maybe' 01?

I fucking hated that guy.
NiteProwleR - ___________Corrupt hometown decision for the Irishman, Burton knew he had no chance if it went to decision, great fight

THIS. I remember watching this after seeing the 3 gatti-ward fights and was like "TF this is better than any of the 3!" Since then I've seen many more a FOTY, and this still has to take the cake all-time imo!
Quite possibly my favorite boxer of all time.
Definitely scratched my head at some of the decisions. I gotta rewatch the Ward - Burton fight. I was super-biased on Ward back in the day.
