I've tried to watch the Enola Holmes Netflix movie with my daughters, since they would like the 11 actress. The actors and action are solid, but politics in it quite unnecessary, and drag the whole thing down. My 12 year old left after 30 mins, and my 15 year old stopped after an hour, during another political argument. There are movies with social commentary eg kingsman, but it clearly didn't work here.

Yeah i fell asleep half way. I’m all for “girl power” as long as it doesn’t take away from the movie, but it went too far. We get it, girls can do great things, now back to good characters and moving the plot line along

I didn't finish the movie, so I don't know how it all plays out, but feminism was a major plot line up until the point I watched. From a movie about Sherlock Holmes teenage sister looking for her disappeared mom, it became a movie about feminists fighting patriarchy with Sherlock Holmes being a minor side character.

They didn't just kinda layer it in there, it was flat out fuck men and the patriarchy. The victorian era of London def. had strong black bjj teachers too. lol.

I’ve just stopped watching original movies from streaming services. There’s no point. They all suck and lack something intangible. Unless it’s a tv series I’m not even going to bother.
The movie format should die without theaters. I’m tired of long-form stories being crammed into 90 minutes.

i didnt get too heavy a sjw vibe, or girl power. her martial arts use was shown to not always work, the guy she fights still kicks her ass.
as far as politics, i chalked it up to historic sufferage and ripping of guy faux idea
