Enough! UFC needs to stop holding Toquinho back..

I'm really upset about Toquinho and the kind of treatment he gets from the UFC.

I know what's up. His style is not fan-friendly, and he's top5 least marketable guys in the UFC. He's dumb, ugly and brazilian. The UFC absolutely does not want a guy like that anywhere close to the belt.

But seriously, do we really need to give him step downs in competition after each win? He has one loss against Hendo - the fight against Marquadt, I'm not say he won it, but I don't count it as a loss - just Toquinho being dumb, something that in this life he won't be able to change. BUT I still don't completely discredit Toquinho's assumption that Marquadt greased - We'll just never know for sure.

Anyways, he's now fighting Mike Massenzio here in Rio - a clear-cut step down compared to Dan Miller. They'll give him anyone - except the fights we want: Maia (#1 hands down most interesting match for Toquinho), Sonnen, Bisping, Munoz or Okami.

I just think it sucks that the organization can and will prevent any title inspiration you have as a fighter if you don't fit their bill in regards to what a marketable champion should be. Toquinho can submit ANYONE in the division in a good day - They are aware, and do not want this to happen.

hey Toquinho!

It's not really a marketable issue but more of a behavior issue, he just doesn't listen sometimes, as seen by his MMA and ADCC performances. I'm not saying he's a bad guy, he just isn't the brightest fighter out there. It'll probably end up being a sort of Nick Diaz situation, where the UFC will move him up when they're assured he can behave himself. I personally would love to see him fight Demian Maia, that would be one of the most exciting matches ever Phone Post

OP is a troll but has a few valid points

I hate how the UFC immediately got behind Stann (who has plateaued at MW as far as I'm concerned) but mostly ignored Okami and Palhares.

Paul would be the first UFC champion who was raised by wolves.

"BUT I still don't completely discredit Toquinho's assumption that Marquadt greased - We'll just never know for sure."

The ref checked him right afterwards. What does it take to convince you? Phone Post

Paul Harris is one of the best MW's. He should be fighting the top guys.

A fight with Maia would be spectacular, but it would be great to see him beat up Sonnen or Bisping.

He got two chances to step up and lost both.

Wtf are you talking about? They didn't back Okami? The same guy that got 3 #1 contender shots and 2 title shots? Jesus you should probably know what you are talking about before making yourself look like an asshat. It took Stann 7 Ufc fights to get a #1 contenders bout. It took Okami 4. None of the facts back up what you are saying.

Palhares got two huge opportunities to step up and blew both of them. Does he deserve someone better than Massenzio? Sure but he certainly isn't being fucked over.

LOL there's a exact same post on sherdog. Difference is they moved it to the wasteland section.

Nexus_Rising - Absolutely ridiculous at how people believe he's some sort of world beater who should be fighting a top five.

He's fought two guys who were above average, he lost both times and got pounded out by Marquardt, people need to stop with these bullshit threads about how he's being over-looked until he beats a top ten guy and considering Dan Miller dropped him, Anderson, Chael, Okami, Belfort, Stann, and Belcher would likely stop him.

I think the only ppl who beat him at mw are
Vitor, silva and maybe Maia Phone Post

Harlem -  As I see it, with all due respect to Palhares, he is a slight risk to put in with the higher level fighters. A pattern of not listening and behaving in ways that aren't in the best light would make any organization be cautious in putting him in the cage.

I see this as a clear indication that the UFC wants to see him get a shot but doesn't feel safe until he shows no incidents in a few fights before they move him up the ladder.

Exactly. He is the kind of guy to "accidently" hurt or maim someone. The guy is wreckless in grappling events. Imagine him all wound up on a FOX broadcast ignoring the referee calls.

And as you say: Dumb, ugly and less marketable are the least of his worries.

 joke

he's lucky to still have a job after the stuff he's done

Okami got a title shot dude. Phone Post

Munoz vs Harris would be sick. I bet dfw is just worried that he'll permanently injure one of his poster boys... Phone Post

Machida was undefeated, 15-0 spanning an 8 year career before he got a title shot. Paul Harris still has a way to go before I feel bad for him.

Cyril Jeff - hey Toquinho!

Yeah. Like Toquinho knows how to use a computer.

Chango

Maybe it's more of a case of the guys at 185 not wanting to fight him. He's a dangerous fighter, due to both his skills and behavior in the cage.

Plus, he's not a big name, so I can see why he's not a desirable opponent for any of the top names at 185.
