Erik Paulson, a legendary pioneer in the sport of mixed martial arts, will return to New Jersey on Sunday, May 6, to host a six-hour combat wrestling submission seminar at Master Ace Ramirez's KRU Training National Headquarters in Bergenfield.

Ramirez has been hosting Sensei Paulson since 2001. Paulson has not had a professional fight since nearly five years ago when he defeated Jeff Ford. It was Paulson's third consecutive win bringing his professional record to 11-4-2.

Paulson's career began just around the same time that the Ultimate Fighting Championship launched in 1993, though he never fought for the organization. He was the first American to win the world light heavyweight Shooto title in Japan.

Paulson is the founder of Combat Submission Wrestling, and STX Kickboxing, and holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Rigan Machado. He currently runs the CSW Training Center in Fullerton, California.

Paulson grew up in Minnesota and began his training in Judo in 1974. He started training competition Tae Kwon Do in 1976. In order to get his boxing hands better he joined Golden Gloves Boxing in 1978 and competed all throughout his junior and senior high years while still competing in many karate tournaments and full-contact kickboxing matches.

Paulson has trained many instructors and fighters alike including former world champions Josh Barnett, Sean Sherk, and Brock Lesnar. Paulson was a striking coach for Team Lesnar during season 13 of the Ultimate Fighter.

There is an early bird registration special of $90 until April 20. From April 21-May 3 the pre-registration fee will increase to $115 and if space permits the fee will be $125 at the door the day of the event.
