Another Full Eruption Review

Bostonmma...Thanks for the review....I question one of your write ups.
When you review the Colangelo fight, you seem to be reporting it a bit
off. The fight was supposed to be based on a 10 point must system
according to the rules meeting. In the first round Mark scored 3
knockdowns by punches making the first round a 10-7 round. The
second round would have gone to Lee but Lee had a one point
deduction for kicking Colangelo while he was on the canvas (not
knocked down). This would make this round a 9-9 round at best. How
this fight went the way that it did, boggles me. Lee scored leg kicks on
Mark, but that is all. Mark scored 3 knockdowns in the first round. I
never bitch about results, but this one is frustrating to say the least.
Especially to hear that it was a unanimous decision. Mark should have
gotten the win in my opinion.

Lynn, a knock down in boxing is very different to mma. Matt Lee landed a lot more and was unfazed by the knock downs. But Colango showed good power and it looked like he could get the KO at any sec.

Lynn, I judge at a lot of MMA events and I never give a point deduction for a knockdown like in boxing. The only event that I know that does do this is in Shooto. I didn't see this event but I would have to think that three knockdowns would certainly have to weigh heavily on the judging of a round though.

Bostonmma...I realize that rules vary in the two sports but Mark had
solid knockdowns that did phase Matt. He recovered amazingly well,
but the knockdowns were legit. Matt fought a great fight for sure! The
only thing is his attack was primarily leg kicks on Mark. Whatever the
results, it was a great fight! I'm just putting in my two cents.
Remember though, even though this is a different sport, when you
guage the fight based on the criteria given for judging on the 10 point
must system with the point deduction in the second round and the
three knockdowns in the first round, the unanimous decision is a bit
frustrating.

Thanks again for the review. It was an awesome event and I really hope
to see another one soon! Mike Littlefield was great to work with as
were the promoters. I have to say that from a professional standpoint,
this event was amazing!!!

Matt Lee won the fight, the whole crowd agreed. I understand that Marc is your guy, but Lee had faster hands and landed those killer kicks to the body

Johnny,

I agree, I'm just using the 10-7 boxing reference as a reference point,
not a literal translation of the judging system.

Lynn, where were you at the fights? I was sitting at a table ringside the same one as Ray Elbe. I feel bad that I didn't get a chance to talk to any of the Renzo/Rodrigo guys there, though I did get to talk to Gabert briefly in the hotel lobby.

Bostonmma...I agree that the decision went to Matt. I don't take
anything away from Matt. He is a great fighter and a class act. After the
fight he came into the dressing room and congratulated Mark on a
great fight. I am only expressing my opinion and am in no way
slighting Matt or his performance. That is far from my intention. It was
a great fight. To say the "whole" crowd agreed is a bit much though.

Bostonmma...I was sitting ringside as well. I was sitting at the table
with Jim Genia. I came in with our fighters.

I'm so bad at names and faces. Who was Jim Genia?

Damn, an intelligent debate on the Underground :-) Cool.

He writes for FCFighter. I was wearing a grey Team Ryan Gracie/Fabio
Leopoldo shirt.

Yea, I was talking to him in the locker room. Your table was right across from me.

Anyways, back to Eruption talk. What did people think about the Capiora display?

I don't really know what they were saying. I was in the dressing room
with our fighters when it was going on. I dig watching it though.

It seemed so frivilous to mean. Yea it can be cool to watch, but after starting the show 90 minutes late, it just didn't seem nessassary.
