ESPN on air cuts to begin May 1

Damn it's a bad day to be a white guy at espn.

Deadspin is running the ongoing cut list.

I don't recognize most of the names but Ed Werder, Jayson Stark, and Trent Dilfer stand out.

No more Dilfer Dimes saddens me.

Just saw a few black guys. Also a bunch of broads

They're dying a slow death... Partially due to the ever-changing demographic climate... Millennials couldn't really give any less fucks about watching a sports news channel and ESPN's decision to inject politics in much of their sportscasting turned off many of their loyal and older fans. So in one way, it's just the ebb and flow of change and in the other, it's completely their fucking fault. To top it off, their politics run in direct contrast with MOST of their loyal viewership. I mean, it was just dumb.. Stupid. Retarded.

I personally could not care any less about their well-being. I heard about their political bullshit only because it was reported on... Other than that, the last time I watched them was probably back in the early 90's when sports was a bigger part of my because I was a child. Now, I'm an adult and fill my time with things that matter to me. Sports news is hardly on that list... LOL @ the thought of that.

They need to cancel the six, Jamelle hill and the other guy are horrible and just not funny or interesting.

Yeah now that I look at the list they did spread it out a bit. I was just talking about the big names that had been posted on here.

Im not saying they shouldnt cut white dudes, but could they at least have gotten rid of some of the annoying ones? Off the top of my head Max Kellerman, Dallas Braden, and Bill Plashcke all blow. How about one of them? There's not really anybody on that list who I see and automatically think "thank god they got rid of them".

My personal take on the decline of ESPN ties to the availability of instant sports coverage through online means. Why wait around for on of their shows to give limited coverage to teams and sports I care about, when I can view online and discuss with other fans and beat writers via Twitter. I still watch live events on ESPN, other than that I find it obsolete.

Just my perspective.

ESPN doesn't want their old viewers back.

Thought their revenue last year was $4 billion.

Karma for firing Simmons and closing Grantland.

Hello Captain Obvious!!!

JK

Of course thats the decline. Sportscenter has no relevance because we catch the scores and highlights on a million other platforms in real time. (Twitter, Facebook, hell ESPN's own app!!)

Thats why theyve gone full retard with the hot take garbage like First Take, His and Hers etc. Nobody is tuning in for a recap of old news. Basically if its not live sports, its all being overtaken by real-time app platforms that give you all the same info and opinions, without the requirement of sitting down for a block of time in front of a tv.

Sorta sad from a nostalgia perspective, but the sports world has moved on.

Dallas already had his contract rework he now splits half his time in Bristol and the other half here at NBC Sports Bay Area for Oakland A's coverage

Really surprised with Trent Dilfer and Danny Kanell.

This. He was best part of Sunday mornings and Monday night countdown

Looks like Fox and NBC are about to seriously upgrade their talent.
