Howdy,I have got a few job opportunities through Europe for this summer and one of the points that is actually going to factor into my ultimate decision is my ability to catch the MMA events (mostly UFC) this summer.
Option 1 is the UK - Which I am very common with, SKY Sports handles it..etc. But because I have spent quite a lot of time in UK I don't think I will end up working there.
Option 2 - Spain, good chance of me ending up there. Does any one know how accessible watching MMA is? I know with the time change it's hardly going to be shown at a local sports bars (but then again, Ibiza never sleeps so maybe?..) Does any-one know if it comes on regular television or what?
Option 3 - The Netherlands - same question as above, how accessible is viewing the fights?
TTT
Can't really help you outside the UK, although I know France gets their coverage by receiving a channel from Luxembourg that shows UFC. I have to assume that most European countries will be on a significant delay as to when the events get shown, and probably highly edited at that.
The only thing for UFC shows is that you might be able to pick up UK satellite channels throughout parts of Europe. In which case, you would try to get ESPN which shows UFC live.
I have to admit, I suspect coverage to be mostly poor.
argh.. Dont wanna miss some this summer's events.
When I was travelling I couldn't find the events live. Sometimes they'd be on two week delays or not shown at all. Best bet is to stream them.
If they are Vegas shows they are live here at 3-4 in the morning.
So you might have to wait until the morning after anyway.
Also, you may get some local bozo commentating it. (=no roganisms)
I get it for "free" on cable, but I download it by way of torrents most of the time anyway.
I can only talk for Spain, but as far as I know, there's no way to watch the UFC on TV. Anyway, watching them live means 4am-7am. I have done that with cards I was especially interested in. And Ibiza is not exactly sports oriented.
Double post. See below.

Damn that's a heart-breaker, Ibiza is where I will be. Looks like I'll miss a lot of great live fights. I'm sure I'll have plenty to keep my attention though =)
Hopefully where I'll be staying will have internet so i can stream. Does any-one know of a reputable stream that doesn't lag, how is UFC's deal with Yahoo is that a decent stream?
I guess there is always watching the fights one by one from the "core" the next morning.
A few times I have been in places where couldnt get UFC. Twice was Columbus where PPV was blacked out. The online thing works great - had like 20 guys all in the hotel room watching my laptop; was fun :-)
With Europe six hours ahead, it wont be live anyway.
Your biggest obstacle will be finding a place open at 3 or 4am to watch an event.
I watch the events live at home on ESPN at 3am in Ireland. I was holidaying in Spain during UFC 99 which took place in Cologne Germany. A local bar carried SKY and had the Setanta channel (which had the UFC contract at the time) so I got to watch it. Because it was on at regular time (9pm) this wasn't a problem.
Streams or ordering the PPV online may be your only option, unless you want to befriend a local who'll let you sleep over (no homo).
Only know about the Netherlands. They only show TUF here on tv as far as I know. I usually watch online via UFC.com and Strikeforce.com, which works well.

Just stay tf away from from mma.tv for a couple of hours and download it in HD when you wake up. No need for streamed crap.
The way I see it, I pay whenever I get an opportunity to do so. If Zuffa doesn't want to get serious with the European market it is their loss.

Wrong.
Boxing, MMA and other sporting events from america are often shown live in Europe. Its a like 4am though so it would be wise to make some coffee to stay awake for it lol
^Ha I've only missed one live PPV since they've started, went to bed and slept through the alarm til 06.20 ( wont even tell you what main event it was )
Needless to say since then the coffee pot goes on and I sit and wait lol
