off. Sorry but the UFC's 100th event will swallow Affliction whole. There might be 1 or 2 guys in Montana that mistake the Affliction on Free TV for the UFC event but thats about it. Its funny that affliction thinks going up against the UFC in their biggest event in history is a good idea.
How much longer does Affliction have left?
A lot longer if they hire me as a consultant.
UFC better offer me a job before Affliction picks me up and I save their sorry asses
Its so ballsy you have to admire it.
Affliction = promoter with the most budo.
The UFC will run against them what ever date they choose anyway. Might as go out swinging.
Golden Boy - The UFC will run against them what ever date they choose anyway. Might as go out swinging.
Makes sense
^ Totally agree. No completely outmatched underdog ever won a fight by not taking chances.
IrishFighter110 - Fedor vs Barnett
Aleksander vs Arlovski
Babalu vs Ortiz
Belfort vs Mousasi
VS
GSP vs Alves
Lesnar vs Mir
Hendo vs Bisping
Akiyama vs Belcher
I dont know if you realize this, but that affliction card to a casual fan looks like Tito and bunch of nobodys. Then they will remember that Tito's not that good anymore and lost to that sucky karate guy and they will never think of affliction again
IrishFighter110 - Fedor vs Barnett
except that that's the one fight they specifically say won't happen.
Fedor vs Overeem is way more exciting anyways
The card will look more like:
Fedor vs. Tito
Barnett vs. Werdum
Mousasi vs. Babalu
Sylvia vs. Buentello
Din Thomas vs. LC Davis
Belfort vs. Rogerio
Something like that I would think

"Belfort vs. Rogerio"
I doubt they would fight.
A Tito show on free TV or basic cable would get more viewers than a UFC ppv, I would think.
I still don't really understand the motivation for this. Why not put their show on Friday night? Going opposite the UFC literally does nothing except diminish their own audience.

Who gives a shit what casual fans think or who sells the most ppv. Sick fights...enjoy em.
Casual fans finance this sport so...I'm sure Affliction cares.
If not, it's easy to see why they're not going to lost all that longer.
Apparently Affliction's clothing business can also finance the sport.
But who gives a fuck where the money comes from if it leads to us seeing great fights?
Aren't you people tired of endlessly forecasting the death of Affliction while they continue to put on great fights? Why not just sit back and enjoy them, what is with the obsession of forecasting their demise? They've already proven you all wrong multiple times over so you might want to just sit back and see what they can do.
Mad Xyientist - Fedor vs. Tito

This is going to be the mega card to compete with the UFC? Its almost pathetic enough to want to tune in and watch that over the UFC out of pity.. but nah

Its easy when they keep making piss poor business decisions, and the fights HAVENT been that great - lets not fool ourselves here
orcus - "Belfort vs. Rogerio"Because this gets noticed.

Fedor is the world's best fighter. That much is undeniable. But people still haven't completely noticed. Putting him on directly against the UFC's most anticipated card will raise the eyebrows of sports journalists everywhere.
If this is on Fox or NBC on a Saturday night in Primetime against a UFC PPV, it will get noticed. Then, the fighters just have to do their jobs and put on a show, and they did that big time in the first two shows.

The great thing about you is I don't have to bother typing anything, as you almost always hit the nail on the head before I ever even get to the thread.
Voted up, and I wish more of the vocal MMA crowd had your common sense.
voted up mad xyientist also, great post and mirrors my feelings exactly.
why the fuck any "fan" of mma would want to see affliction die is beyond me. they have given us two of my favourite mma cards of all time so far.
the ufc has given us so many amazing cards i've lost count.
i want affliction to live, i want ufc to live, i love mma.
VectorWega -Mad Xyientist -That's not really a sustainable business model. I guess if Affliction is run by some lunatics they could simply take the profits of their clothing business and stick them into a failing MMA business. Donald Trump could do the same, but that's not reality. I'm sure they have investors in both businesses that demand returns.Chris Power -

I agree, and hopefully its not their strategy. Business usually take losses before they start generating profits. Don't believe me? Just ask Zuffa. Its well publicized how much money they lost. If any of these rumors are true, it seems apparent that Affliction is sitting on a TV deal.
But even if they have no strategy, I'm just going to keep enjoying this while its here.
Two stacked cards on one night? I'm all for it. And I hope it all stays like this for as long as possible.

Who cares if sports journalists have their eyebrows raised?
Putting the show on Friday, or the previous or following weekend, when more people would actually SEE Fedor fight, would seem to do a lot more to get the people who matter -- the viewers -- to notice.
The organization isn't going to have more success because some sports journalists had their eyebrows raised by their "balls" (stupidity) in broadcasting opposite the UFC.
