I saw the Grateful Dead about 15-20 times in the 90's so I've taken my fair share. 3 times stand out.
1. First time - Took a few hits and hung out in the local park with the stoners. The hospital was across the street, watched it melt into the ground. Ran into a guy who escaped police custody whilst being held in said hospital by climbing out the window where he proceeded to fall through a skylight and slash his face up to the point he had multiple gashes that took 14 plus stitches each to patch. Apparently they caught him, fixed him up and his mom bailed him out. Fucked up thing to see tripping. (Later that summer he passed out sucking on a nitrous tank and froze his lips to the nozzle). The next day I woke up puking blood and went to the ER, my appendix was about to burst. I was still seeing tracers as I went under for surgery.
2. Discovered I had crabs when I was peaking - At first I thought it was just visuals until I figured out it wasn't. Made for a long night. Note: Got them from when I lost my virginity. Bummer.
3. Went to a Dead show and took 6 or so, amazing night until we went to the beach and saw a gang fight. Saw 20 - 30 dudes duking it out then watched a dude get stabbed over and over. Totally sucked.
Overall, it was all positive, but watch your environment and your state of mind. Had some amazing times on it but would be too much for me now.
I've done acid a few times and absolutely would agree, try shrooms first. It's also a good plan to make sure you have pure/good stuff. There is a lot that is passed off as acid that can really mess you up. Plus remember!!! Acid is not weight dependent, one hit is plenty enough the first try.

Did it only once. Had a bad trip. We were at a house party and everyone was doing ecstasy. I hated that drug so I decided to try acid. Wrong move. Didn't like the feeling so I took a walk outside. Was standing near the entrance to a mountain trail talking to the friend who gave it to me and was trying to calm my nerves. Looked into the forrest and seen three headless horsemen!! Took off sprinting down the street. Next thing I know I was in Debo's chicken coop.... Only my mama could get me out! Haha
