As a fight fan, I do enjoy the sport of boxing but seeing Floyd in MMA is not something that I am too excited for. If Cuban is able to entice Floyd to fight in his promotion, who is going to fight? A 145lber or 155lber that no one has heard of? A striker at that who has limited ground experience? Would floyd take the time to really learn as much as he could and pursue a title in MMA?
My point is that would his fight be more then a spectacle in out beloved sport?

I want to see it. But, how much do you really think they will have to give him to fight, and in that retrospect will his competitor get the same amount (I think not).
Bdog, Floyd has always been one of my favorite boxers. Having said that I would much rather see him fight Ricky again then see him fight some TBA who has no or limited ground experience.
My point in this thread we know Floyd wants to retire from fighting because and injuries and such. So would we really get a chance to see him train to improve his overall game and compete at the elite levels of MMA? I think not...
It's gonna be like Houston Alexander in a way. Lets say Mayweather does fight mma. He'll get a few stand up guys that he'll tool then be totally exposed when they give him a sound grappler.

I think Mayweather is in a no-win situation. If he trains really hard for mma he may go somewhere but getting your wrestling to a level like Sherk, Guida, Edgar would take years (and even then he will not catch those guys). He won't be able to utilize the boxing like people will be expecting.
He will either fight cans and win or fight someone like Edgar and get killed badly.

For me, it would be an answer to who would win, the best PFP boxer in the world, or a MMA fighter who can strike and grapple. I agree Floyd is at a disadvantage, but he could also be the best LW in the world if he takes the rest seriously as he does his boxing.
He'll do anything to make the money, Cuban will pay, so we may see it. My money would still be on no, at least for a legitimate Floyd vs. Penn/Stevenson/Sherk fight.

give me a break. High level athletes in BJJ, wrestling, and Muay Thai make peanuts compared to guys like Mayweather. It's like comparing apples and oranges. For those guys they can make MORE money by fighting in MMA. For someone like Mayweather, unless they throw some ridiculous amount at him, he'd almost certainly make less.
imagine if he went to MMA and got KOd..I wouldnt go as far as to say it would ruin boxing, but it would definitley put boxers on a lower tier than MMA fighters currently, you would have to think
