extend desktop: laptop + 2 monitors?

i have a Dell laptop with a docking station, there are two input slots to connect monitors.

i have two monitors and have them all hooked up but am only ever able to extend the desktop onto one.

is it possible, i assume so but minor trouble shooting has lead me to a dead end ... any idea OG?

Control Panel/Display/Change Display Settings/Multiple Displays/Duplicate These Displays doesn't work?

You need an adaptor. I run three displays off my Mac laptop.

Depending on what you have inside your Dell...

ya im running XP ...i can get to the
Control Panel/Display properties/Settings

and have access to 2 monitors but cant seem to add a third.

it allows me to drag the monitor icon to match the physical arrangement of my monitors but there are only two icons present ... not sure how to add a third and enable it.

figured it might be something like this.

TY for info

and have access to 2 monitors but cant seem to add a third.

Very few laptops are going to be able to output three displays (you laptop monitor counts as one)

I had 4 on my pc at once. I had to install a new video card and software. Loved it though, totally worth the effort. Phone Post 3.0

Unless at least one of the outputs is Display Port it is unlikely that you will be able to run two moniters + laptop screen without buying additional hardware.

Can't do it. You will need an adapter to run more than 2 for your Dell.

I have run into this problem; I have a VGA output and an HDMI output on my laptop.  I tried adding a display using the HDMI output and could not get it to work unless the VGA was disconnected.

this is exactly what i was trying and having the same problem
