Mickle to defend Extreme title at Lakeside Casino
OSCEOLA, Iowa -- Chris Mickle will make the first defense of his lightweight title this Friday night when he battles Tim Bazer in the main event of Extreme Challenge 80 at Terrible's Lakeside Casino.
Mickle (22-11), who lives in nearby Des Moines, beat the odds and Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Justin James four months ago to capture the EC belt. Bazer (9-2) hails from Omaha, Neb.
"Bazer came up to me only minutes after Mickle won the title and said he wanted to challenge him for the belt," said Extreme Challenge promoter Monte Cox. "I didn't know who the kid was or if he was serious... then, a few weeks later, I find out Bazer is for real and he is totally serious."
Tickets for the 9-bout event start at $30 and can be ordered online at www.iowatix.com or by calling the Lakeside Casino gift shop at 877-477-5253 ext. 259.
Jens Pulver, coach of the recently completed Ultimate Fighter TV show, will be a special guest at the show as will teammate and Ultimate Fighter 3 runnerup Brad Imes.
