barao isn't easy to takedown and why would faber want to take down a bjj black belt who's active off his back. barao is just as dangerous off his back.
He tried to throw off Barao's timing with his constant movement and feinting. He was just in there with a superior fighter and couldn't do anything. There's nothing he could have done to win the fight. TD's would have been a waste of energy, he was nowhere close to getting Barao down.

Ducking your head and running at your opponent does not really equal a takedown attempt. I he never even tried a clean shot.
