"I don't need any," Faber responded when asked how many fights he believes he needs to get a title shot. "I guess basically whatever they think is fair."

"(Current bantamweight champion) Dominick Cruz is a guy I fought before, I beat him in his only loss, but he's done some improvement and he's earned his spot where he's at."

"I'm not feeling any type of entitlement to come down there and step right in, but I feel like that wouldn't be a far stretch. I was the kingpin in a weight class above, fighting guys that are bigger than I am, and so whatever they feel comfortable, I'll fight whoever, whenever, as long as they're sending the check and I'm having a good time."

Faber will get his first test at bantamweight on Nov. 11 in Las Vegas where he faces Japanese slugger Takeya Mizugaki in the WEC 52 main event.

So he gets dominated by Aldo, and thinks he deserves an immediate title shot? I mean, yea people including me like him, and he's a big WEC superstar, but he can't be that delusional... right?

I'm still shocked they didn't give him a shot right off the bat in his drop to 135.

Faber was the kingpin of WEC when it was a small org. A big fish in a small pond. Now that that pond is considerably larger and more talented he's been swallowed whole.

I am very interested to see how he will fare at 135, but I am not too optimistic about his chances of running through the division and becoming champion so quickly... Maybe he is so confident because he knows he doesn't have to deal with Aldo.

How can he think that Aldo would be the only one with his number though? Doesn't make much sense to me.

Like he said, he has already beaten the champion, and is in fact the only person to do so. No one else at 135 has beaten Dominick or come close, so why would Faber think they would beat him?

He thinks he can beat Cruz again...?

Uh, this is at a different weight Faber. You need to EARN your title fight!

I mean he did beat the former champ and hes a huge name in the WEC would anyone be surprised if he got a title shot after this fight?

He is ready for Cruz right off the bat. Phone Post

always thought Uriah was a great champ and a cool guy.....Fickle fans show their true colors now because he lost a couple of fights....he got in there with some of the best in the world....eventually he lost.

He'll get a title shot if he beats Mizugaki. Already has a win over Cruz, he's the biggest draw in the company, and he and Cruz don't like each other. Easy match making.

Can't wait to see Faber back in action.

Faber gets the shot after this fight while miguel torres gets a can tossed his way. This clears the way for the Faber vs Torres fight they've wanted for a little while and the next WEC PPV. I would be shocked if this doesnt happen if Faber can get by Cruz again. Phone Post

in all fairness he was always the smaller guy at 145 but there wasnt much of a 135 for him to go to so he reigned at 145

dbl

I am actually surprized the WEC just don't give him all 3 belts and admit that they don't want anyone but him holding the belts.

He said he was ready. If he gets past Mizugaki, I'm sure the WEC will want him to fight Jorgensen/Cruz.

Definitely true, but I was talking more about other fighters at 135. I guess I can understand his confidence, but I don't necessarily believe that it is entirely warranted considering his win over Cruz was over 3 years ago.

If he beats Mizugaki, do Faber vs Torres. If he wins that, title shot.

^ I agree, would love to see it, but WEC will not likely burn thru both top contenders/main eventers with a title eliminator between the two big names.

Faber v Cruz II

Torres v Bowles II

haven't even read the article linked, but quote taken out of context and blown out of proportion I assume. I'm sure Faber is also "ready" to wrestle a bear.

WAR Torres
