Round 1 - The crowd is predictably insane as the fighters are announced, and referee Josh Rosenthal draws officiating duties. Assuncao misses an early kick. Faber lands one. Assuncao pushes in puts Assuncao against the cage. Faber circles off and reverses the position. Assuncao returns the favor as the pair jockeys for position in the clinch. Assuncao misses a big left as they back away. Faber with a pair of front kicks. Faber rushes in with a right that lands and Assuncao clinches. Assuncao lands inside. They push apart with little damage. Faber lands a right hand an works into the clinch. Assuncao grabs a bodylock and spins off the cage. He pushes away and we restart. Faber lands a nice flurry ofaahnds, though Assuncao answers. Faber rushes in and is dumped to the floor on a low kick. He pops up, and Assuncao is unable to earn a takedown in the clinch. Faber lands a few quick punches and backs away. One minute left, and chants of "Fa=ber" erupt. Faber with the front kick. Faber with a flying knee. Assuncao sneaks in a 1-2.
