sucks. Why am I reading this? "Flesh and Blood" was much better.
Actually, as I continue to read, it's getting better. I just dislike Leonard Gardner's writing "style." I am amazed that this thing won awards as a work in progress and that everybody from Pat Conroy to John Updike was jolly over this thing. Bleh. The novel I mentioned above and F.X. Toole's "Rope Burns" was sooo much better.
