He may have trouble with a tall guy like Arlovski. Fedor wanted none of Schilt's striking prowess and he took it to the ground immediately every round.
The Pit Bull has a much better skill set than Semmy, so look for Fedor to have the same gameplan and desperately try to pull a Hendo with a close decision.
you have got to be kidding!!
man... he was beating the Epic shit out of Semmy though. it wasn't even funny.
troll
LMFAO @ this thread. This has to be a troll job. Semmy was more than a foot taller than Fedor. Well Semmy usually is about foot taller than most of his opponents. If Fedor takes AA down and I think he will, AA is done for.
5 years since he fought him.....
He has got alot better!
Scary!
Sylvia was a bit taller than Fedor too IIRC.
LOL fedor has been shorter than most of his opponents
and LO-fucking-L at Arlovski being "tall"
The Schilt match was also Fedor's first true MMA match, with G&P striking, knees on ground, stomps etc. Hadn't quite got into the groove of demolishing everyone just yet.
People rate Fedor correctly as a fighter -- he's #1 -- but over-rate him in the individual categories.
His wrestling is not amazing, his submissions skills have never been shown against anyone worth a shit except 185 Lindland (who is only good from the top), and his striking is not as good as people think. The big argument everyone uses is "he outstruck Crocop holy fuck!" but Gonzaga, Hunt, Kongo, and Alistair also outstruck Crocop (one might add Randleman), and Fedor only outpointed Crocop standing after Mirko began gassing (after slipping and having Fedor on top of him for half a round). Before that, Mirko got the better of the exchanges; Hunt also got the better of the standing exchanges with Fedor; Nog hung in there on the feet just fine, and while Nog is (was) good, he is painfully slow.
What makes Fedor great is he puts his skills together brilliantly. There are plenty of guys who are better than he is at one or more of wrestling, striking, and submissions.
he hit nasty, quick and decisive submissions on coleman and randleman...to say that 'his submission skills have never been shown against anyone worth a shit.." is just dumb.

for a Fedor hater you sum it up nicely.
Hes not the best wrestler, hes not the best striker, hes not the best submission fighter.
He is however, the best MMA fighter

This is True ... But after HE takes arlovski to the matt and ends the fight .......who will you say matches up well against him? I think there are two fighter out there right now that could surprise him and the world. One of fights for UFC and No Not Brock....
Fact is He should have be severly hurt if not crippled when he was droped on his head by Randelman. And Should have been lights out.. when He took that Powerfull right Hook from .... ah whats his name.. Fujita.
Fact is He Got some Nephilim DNA in him Read Genesis 6 "Mighty men of renown where on the earth in those days" Just a whimsicle suposition there.
inf0 - Fedor has the best GNP in the world and has incredible speed for a HW fighter. He's shown excellent trips and ground control. He's has also shown amazing recovery as well.
Fedor has many outstanding qualities as a fighter, and he is definitely not average if you look beyond your simple definitions.
This is also true. He puts his game together like nobody else.
He has amazing heart, never quits, even when in trouble he pulls it together

There are a lot of guys who could be dangerous, in my opinion.
Barnett, of course -- good standup, decent power, great chin, good cardio, good wrestling, good size, excellent -- possibly the best in the division -- submissions.
Gonzaga -- one-strike KO power in hands and feet, top notch grappling, good wrestling, questionable cardio.
Alistair -- excellent striking, wrestling, size; good grappling; questionable cardio/heart.
Carwin and Brock -- huge guys with one punch KO power on the feet and who would certainly put Fedor on his back; could they avoid the subs from Fedor? I don't know, but I do know Fedor hasn't submitted anyone half-decent from his back or even tried. And both those guys have very damaging GnP. Throw Cain Velasquez in there as well.
The fact is that Fedor has not fought ANYONE like the above guys. The only decent wrestlers he fought -- Coleman & Randleman -- have no GnP and seem to have never heard of submissions; they are pretty much the definition of throwbacks to the dawn of the sport. Well, there's Lindland, who is both a good wrestler and good with subs and GnP, but 1) he fights at 185, 2) like many wrestlers, he is only good from the top, and 3) Fedor grabbed the ropes shamelessly to keep from being on his back. The best striker he fought is Crocop, who has a history of losing heart (or gas) if his opponent doesn't fold; even so, Mirko did well on the feet before gassing and took no damage on the ground and was never in any sub danger. The only truly well-rounded guy he's fought is Nogueira, who is simply too lacking in the physical attributes -- speed and power -- that most of the other upper level guys in the sport have; he was no real threat on the feet and too slow to get or defend takedowns.
All of the guys I listed have the speed and power to hurt Fedor standing; the skill (and strength/speed/size) to put Fedor on his back and keep him there; the power and skill to do damage and/or go for submissions (and defend against them) on the ground.
Of course, most here will dismiss all that as "hate" without being able to actually refute much (or any) of it.
Fedor > Hong Man Choi
LOL at idiot Orcus....
Fedor is the best, except it.
Can someone please tell me what Carwin or Cain have done that makes them superior to Randleman or Coleman?
Neither of these guys deserves to even be mentioned in the same sentence as Fedor until they get probably 4 or 5 wins each
Holy shit you mean Carwin beat both Neil Wain and Christian Wellisch?
Fedor isnt number 1 until he fights Carwin, Fedors a paper champion.
He has to fight Shane Carwin
CAFattack - LOL at idiot Orcus....

There are no idiots here, accept you
