Fedor: Marciano of mma

Huge Parallels:

Allegedly an undersized heavyweight who just seems to always find a way of beating EVERYONE he fights - including guys who are taller and heavier...extremely strong - especially in the legs and core...tremendous knockout power in both hands - often coming in the form of one single punch...throws unorthodox overhands and uppercuts that are launched with his entire body and that can explode out of nowhere at any moment...slow starter who sometimes takes some damage (including some occasional bleeding) in the early going - before wearing his man down and finishing big...always fights with a very agressive "I'm coming right in to get you" approach - yet is deceptively good at defense (often underated in this regard)...always outlasts his opponents in terms of stamina...is undefeated...real, genuine God-fearing family man who never left his hometown and humble roots...

and never seems to get the true credit he deserves.

You gotta love this guy!

all the cuts and bleeding is special effects.

Fedor's CPU is simply experimenting with new programs to make it appear like he is losing before winning.

Fedor rules, good post!

really good post. the stary osko blockbuster.

and, they're both white!

ttt

Fedor will also be remembered as the white guy who dominated at an era with weak competition.

He won't even be ranked in the top 20 ATG poll 30 years from now.

lol it's his fault the HW division is weak. Pride had the most impressive HW division in the sport and he ruled it. Then he wiped out the two people who ruled the UFC in that time (and both were top 5 before Fedor ran through them). The majority of people in the HW division are new fighters who have yet to be seasoned. In five years the division might be strong again.

Fedor ran this thing.

There are indeed many parallels between Fedor and Rocky.

I hope that like Rocky, he knows when to retire. I also hope that he doesn't have the same bad luck as the Rock regarding air travel.

"and they're both white"...

***YEAH, I guess they can jump after all. Get over it, moron.

The Rock had a knack for landing a big smashing right hand to end the fight while engaged in a slugfest too!

Oh look. Excuses are being made already.

What's wrong with you? The division is weak because Fedor ran though it. That is the opposite of making excuses. Seriously, go back to school.

Just so long as you're not trying to say that Marciano is the best HW boxer ever, as Fedor IS the best HW fighter in the short history of MMA, then it's a good comparison.

No, I believe Joe Louis was the best heavyweight boxer ever. But the similarities between Fedor & Marciano were too numerous not to mention.

Kinetsu Hayabusa - and, they're both white!

Not on the UG, Fedor aint.

He's Russian fool!

Marciano was a great fighter, but he beat guys who were not all that much larger than him, at least once he stopped fighting guys with losing records (when Rocky was 32-0, he fought a 181 pounder with a 3-13 record; the fight before that was against someone who was 8-8, and the two fights after that were against opponents who were 13-15 and 11-14).  In his last 14 fights, the biggest guy he fought was a way past prime Joe Louis at 213, and he never fought for a title against anyone over 205. He wasn't beating guys who would be able to compete at the HW division in any later era.

Fedor is a SLAV!!!

Marciano fought everybody they put in front of him. He ducked nobody.

Joe Frazier was 5'11 and 205lb when he beat Muhammad Ali in 1971.  Michael Spinks was under 200lb when he beat Larry Holmes for the title, as was Leon Spinks when he beat Ali.

Marciano fought in a weak era for heavyweights, but we're in a weak era right now and he'd do fine.
