Why are you surprised? What non-UFC promotion has ever cracked 100k buys Stateside?
Answer: none. Those cards doing as poorly as they did was indicative of the UFC's drawing power being far above any fighter's or org's, not that Fedor couldn't draw.
His fight with Rogers did like 5m on CBS, and his three fights on Showtime were some of Strikeforce's best ever numbers.
Lol, there we go. A promotion that wasn't the UFC needed almost 50 events and a stable of homegrown stars with a double-title fight card to even get close to UFC PPV numbers.
What chance did a guy like Fedor, who was almost entirely unfamiliar to the mainstream American market have? And with a promotion that didn't have anywhere near the amount of experience or market share that the WEC possessed? Pretty much none.
The WEC ppv was pushed HARD by the UFC, they didnt even call it WEC, it was just Faber vs Aldo and was pushed heavily by the UFC as if it was one of their own ppvs.
Fedors numbers on CBS and Showtime were fairly solid from what I remember.

the reason why wec was absorbed into the UFC... if those 50 events had happened under the UFC banner and if Urijah Faber would have made his name and had his run in the UFC that ppv event would have pulled over 300k buys.

This.
At this stage in mma no promotion has lasted long enough and been into ppv's as much as ufc. Not to mention the talent level that other promotions have to offer on a full card. To think that over a 100k people would buy a ppv for one fighter (outside ufc) is silly. Were those cards fedor was on filled with anyone else to draw fans in? Not to mention how much more popular mma has become over the years.
That Bodog PPV was shit and was on next day tape delay too wasn't it?
I just remember that it was in a castle looking place and Putin and Berlusconi were sitting in the front with JCVD. And the fans were way more into Aleks than Fedor
