I know it is hard to say because the Ronda loss is so fresh. But in your expert opinion who had the harsher loss in terms of fan perception, Fedor of Ronda?
At the time Fedor received his first real loss he had 31 wins, was a multiple time world sambo champ and was considered by many to be the GOAT.
He had defeated some of the best heavyweights in the world and looked (for the most part) unstoppable.
His loss came from Werdum a BJJ world champ with a decent resume in MMA but had been cut from the UFC. Many didn't think he stood a chance.
At the time Ronda received her first loss she had 12 wins, won a bronze medal in the Olympic Games, was one of the UFCs biggest draws and was considered the #1 female fighter of all time by most.
She had finished almost the entire top ten fighters at her weight class and looked completely unstoppable.
Her first loss came from Holm a Boxing world champ with a solid 9-0 MMA record against mostly mediocre opponents. Many didn't think she stood a chance.
Before both their losses they were touted as GOATS and untouchable MMA gods. Sure like any fighter they had their share of haters but I found the majority of UGers held their MMA resumes in high regard.
After Their loses they both have been tarnished by MMA fans rather harshly . Ronda hate has been larger because she has a larger fan base than Fedor. Many feel she will not fight again, that she is somehow finished.
Fedor hate was massive as well. After his loss people found a way to discredit his every win.
So UG, which GOATS fall in the MMA collective mind was worse, Fedor or Ronda?
Ronda, a lot harder to hate on Fedor because win or lose he is always classy and respectful before/after a fight.
Fedor was on the end of a near decade run. Ronda.......not so much.
I was more shocked when Fedor lost. He had a bit of a reputation as a can crusher but at heavyweight a can can still knock your head off with 1 punch. Ronda was always the definition of a big fish in a small pond. The UFC tried to sell us her opponents as world class while they ducked Cris and made snide comments.
Fedors is unanimously worse then.
Thank you
The Cats Masher - Fedors is unanimously worse then.Good thread though; in terms of subject. I'm surprised it didn't get more discussion.
Thank you

I think a lot of fans were frustrated with vadim/ fedor/ fedor's management that he hadnt been fighting the top guys, as the last fight before then when he'd fought a top guy in their prime would have been the crocop win 5 years prior (hunt seemed to only come into his own much later).
At the time i think alot of people saw werdum as the guy who got beat by JDS and had dropped out of the ufc and that fedor was fighting in the number 2 HW division (although by the time the HW tournament was going on, there was definitely an argument that SF had the stronger HW roster).
So overall, there was a weird vibe, where it didnt feel like fedor had got beat by the current best in the world - and it gave fuel to those that talked about fedor fighting lots of cans in his career and having a padded record.
I think this is very different to the ronda loss. Ronda was a ~ 9:1 favorite and the loss was a huge upset. People had been critical of the ufc 135 div , but ronda still had fought many opponents with undefeated records at the time and was definitely fighting the best opponents available to her.
We knew with testing in the USA and the cage, Fedor was on borrowed time. His defeats take nothing from his run in pride. All of his opponent sin Pride were on the juice as well, so there's no issue there with PEDs. But in the USA, everyone had to be more careful (except perhaps Overeem, he didn't seem to care one bit).
Fedor losing really was inevitable. He was fighting better guys, and it was in a cage, and they were being tested now, at least to some degree. Many people even predicted his loss to Werdum. I was one of them.
Ronda losing was a titanic tumble and crash for Rousey, with the tremendous hype behind her. The ridiculous drama she attempted to manufacture at weigh ins and then the spoiled brat routine followed up in the cage during instructions served to make the fall further and harder. Fedor demonstrated a tremendous skill set and warrior spirit. Ronda not so much, and actually abysmal tactics.
Despite Fedor being stopped 3 times in a row, his backlash was no where near what Ronda's single dismantling at the hands of Holly Holm was. Her hiding and seemingly being unable to face the public serves to propel her drop even further. This isn't even close. Fedor is still respected across the globe. On the other hand, Ronda has been exposed as a farce. She would not be favored in a rematch or in a match up against Cyborg. Many are speculating she's just gong to quit and call it a career. Her fall has been epic and monumental.
