Fedor's streak-crushing cans isn't that easy

Fedor reminds me of the 95-96 Chicago Bulls who had the highest winning percentage of any team in a single season at 87.8% which is just a bit lower than Fedor's mark of 91.1%.

They were probably a favorite in every game they played that year...a small favorite against the best teams in the league and a huge favorite over the "cans". The longest winning streak they had was only 18 games, and in basketball you have to get outscored for the whole 48 minutes. A "can" can't score a miracle basket in the first 30 seconds and win the game.

Fedor was a huge favorite (10-1 +) vs a few of the freaks and was around even money or a small underdog a few times, but overall I would guess that the average betting line for his fights was around -550 which would make the odds of winning 28 fights in a row a little over 100-1.

Meant to say highest winning percentage of any NBA team. I know that 2 NFL teams have gone undefeated.

im not mad at him

Considering how unpredictable MMA can be and how often favorites are upset, OP has a point.

The thing is, even the best fighters usually get clipped by a "lesser fighter" along the way, and usually when they are on the way up, or even in their prime. Fedor beat them all, freaks, number 1-2 guys, it didnt matter, he won them all until recently, most people get knocked off along the way, long long before a 9-10 year streak.

Look at GSP getting beat by Serra as an example, or Anderson getting FLYING HEEL HOOKED into a living death by Ryo fugging Chonan.

It's going to be awhile before somebody comes along and obliterates everybody for that many years again. Cain might be able to do it, already has a perfect record, and has been a wrecking machine, but this shoulder injury = NOT GOOD.

Valid point.
