Has any one seen any of his DVD's?  I ran into them somehow going through the internet.

Felipe Costa is awesome! I had the opportunity to train at his (and Comprido's) school in Rio a month ago, and I had a great time, and learned a bunch, too. Great instructor and a nice guy.

Agreed. Haven't seen the DVD, but I trained with him in Rio too - he's super-nice, and has great JJ.

Never had the chance to train with Felipe, but I trained with Comprido,
Leozinho, and Benziho (bb from brasa) and there all great BJJ and they all
spoke highly about Costa!

Havent had a chance to check out his DVD yet but I trained with Felipe at his first camp in Brazil and his skills are off the hook.

I posted on this yesterday but for some reason it didn't take.

I don't know Felipe but his discs are well taught.  Keep in mind each disc covers a very specific position.

The Felipe Costa guard is like a half/quater guard variant.  The passing disc is all about the basic double under pass.

The Guard dvd is not long but Felipe teaches very well.  He starts by discussing and showing when and why to use the 'FC' guard and what you need to watch out for.  I found this info very useful as he deals with very common reactions to the guard.  Backing out, pressing forward and moving side to side.  After establishing the position and how to keep it he goes into sweeps and attacks.  He has students do the moves also and corrects their mistakes.   I really liked the disc and think he is one of the better dvd teachers I've seen.

The basic double under pass is something that works when you first learn it against a lot of newer guys, but as people learn counters the pass becomes difficult to complete.  Felipe gives good pointers on this.

The only downside is that I wish Felipe taught more techniques or had more discs.  But I like quality over quantity so I'm a fan of these dvds.  Very good instruction.  Not a ton of 'moves' though.

from Felipe Costa.com (not my review)

i got your dvd today i started seeing it real good information i really liked
the rolling part actually i learned alot from it you put yourself in diffrent
positions so your student could work what you thaught them passing the guard
there was side escapes back escapes reversals two thumbs up great!!!!!

A few days ago I recieved both of Felipes Intructional DVD's and ive seen them both more than twice.
Felipes DVDs are very helpfull and detailed, you do not learn a thousand mixed up moves, you learn a few very effective moves.

The first DVD "The Felipe Costa guard" shows a specail way of working from the guard that helped me at my very next class when I rolled with my students and fellow BJJ practionars.
The guard that Felipe shows how to work with people that are phisicaly stronger and bigger than you and that whant to open your guard.

The seconed DVD "passing the guard" shows very specified moves to pass your oponents guard and take control. Alsow very usfull and i could use the knowleg at my class straight after.

I highly recommend both of Felipes DVDs.
