I know this thread will make the femanazi's out there jump out of their combat boots but I will go ahead with this anyways. I am not against women doing jobs that men do, and I do not advocate gender stereo types. However there are glaring differences between men and women, no one would expect a man to fight a woman. I think when it comes to two men having a physical battle there should be a solid male in the ring to ref the fight due to pure safety for the fighters. The ring girl position has been around and is strictly for women. I would like to see it stay that way. When it comes to combat sports between two highly tuned men, I personally think it is safer for a man to be in the ring with them willing to be a physical presence when its needed. That doesn't mean that all male refs are good and that doesn't mean that some haven't made dangerous mistakes. Personally I just think overall it is safer for the fighters.
Ilovejesus - Considering that little asain dude refs HW fights I think it makes no difference.
pegson123 - i tell you kim winslow. lets the fight go, she aint an early stopper. i think female refs are needed for wmma because they dont stop the fight earlyThat Cyborg-Jan Finney fight was probably the latest stoppage I've ever seen. Winslow just let it go on and on...it seemed like Cyborg was beating the living shit out of Finney forever.

When I say a strong male presence it goes beyond physical stature. You can project a strong presence with more than size. Just like in real life some big guys you cant take serious and some little guys you don't want to test their boundaries.
